Reviews

United Kingdom released, PAL/Region 2 DVD: LANGUAGES: English ( Dolby Digital 2.0 ), English ( Subtitles ), ANAMORPHIC WIDESCREEN (1.78:1), SPECIAL FEATURES: Behind the scenes, Box Set, Cast/Crew Interview(s), Interactive Menu, Multi-DVD Set, Scene Access, SYNOPSIS: In 'Vincent', Winstone plays the head of a team of private investigators who are the last resort for troubled people with nowhere left to turn.

In 'Henry VIII', Winstone brings history's most beguiling monarch to life, revealing the destruction that he left in his wake during his extraordinary 38-year reign. From the moment Henry Tudor casts aside his faithful wife Katherine of Aragon (Assumpta Serna) for the bewitching and determined Anne Boleyn (Helena Bonham Carter), he sets himself on course for a series of disastrous marriages. Violent conflict, both within the population and the church, left England reeling while its complex and charismatic King turned from handsome playboy to a bitter invalid desperate for a son and heir to the throne.

In 'Births, Deaths and Marriages', Alan (Winstone), Graham (Mark Strong) and Terry (Philip Davis) have been best mates since primary school. Now pushing forty, the three friends are still inseparable. Naturally, Alan and Graham are going to give Terry a stag night to remember. A big fry-up breakfast, bubbly, down the dogs for a flutter, ten-pin bowling. But when the boys pay a late night revenge visit to their despised former headmaster, things begin to go disastrously wrong. A tragic accident sets off an unforeseen chain of events revealing terrible secrets. Life will never be the same again. ...The Ray Winstone Collection - 5-DVD Box Set ( Vincent / Henry VIII / Births, Marriages and Deaths )

Yes three classics, his new series VINCENT is excellent he plays the part of vincent so well you go into his world.
Vincent is a detective, not flash i can solve anything detective, but a real person, who works in a shoddy office
and makes mistakes.
The humour is great, and the other cast members compliment the series.
The stories are quick paced with some really good camera work,
Watching is highly recommended.
Henry V111 what can i say, this version i have never seen before
it looks at Henry V111 as a real person, the fact that his father told him on his death bed to be a real King you have to have a son, this stayed in King Henrys mind and was his down fall really, Ray Winstone puts in a natural performance not plastic or LAMDA oh darlings performance, but a real MAN playing a King, Outstanding.
Births marriages and deaths, is a saga series about three friends and a series of events that will change there lives forever, again the strongest performance from Ray Winstone,
again you go into the film, into his world, Brilliant.

Henry VIII & Wives 7 Nov 2009
A good realistic portrayal of the heavy monach and his unfortunate wives bar the last lucky escapee.

This trend, in the UK at least, of releasing one dvd (in this case 'Births, Marriages & Deaths', in other examples the first series of a show, like Messiah, The Vice) and then later on releasing box sets like this one (in those other cases the entire series) is a disgrace, meaning you end up having to buy some of the dvd's twice.

As for this particular boxset, I do think Ray Winstone is a fantastic actor and I loved 'Vincent' and really do want this series on dvd. But as for the others, I've already bought 'Births, Marriages & Deaths' on dvd and I don't want 'Henry VIII' as I just didn't see Ray as this character and it didn't work well for me.

So basically, to get the series I want I have to also buy one I already have and another that I don't want.

Another reviewer says ‘what more could you ask for’ and in reply to that I’d say, each of these series/programs released INDIVIDUALLY, that’s what!

It's an absolute disgrace!
