Product Description

Product Description

Raw, vegetarian cuisine is making news and changing lives daily. From allergy relief to cessation of cancers, raw foods truly facilitate internal physical cleansing and healing. Many people are becoming disillusioned with conventional medicine and integrating more preventative medicine to combat heart disease and cancer, two of the leading causes of death in the UK. There has never been a more important time to incorporate raw foods into your lifestyle. In addition to the untold health benefits and incredible weight loss experienced, this fresh, vibrant food is absolutely delectable. "Rawvolution" is an answer to the demand for truly healthy food that is also delicious and practical to make. The eighty mouth-watering recipes are organized by type, level of difficulty, and what equipment, if any, is necessary in their creation. The book will also contain a rich variety of reference material, which will prove indispensable for anyone wishing to become self-sufficient in the preparation of healthy food. Complete with gorgeous colour photographs and atmospheric black and white pictures, "Rawvolution" will be as artistic as useful, a marriage of recipes and art. Beginning with "How I Went Raw" and an instructional guide to using the book, the book features soups, salad dressings and sauces, appetizers and side dishes, entrees, and desserts and sweets for a delicious combination of raw foods.

About the Author

Matt Amsden has quickly established himself as one of the premier raw food chefs in California and the world. Matt's company, RAWvolution, was the first of its kind, delivering gourmet raw food meals throughout the United States. Originally from Ontario, Canada, Matt began eating a diet of 100% raw foods virtually overnight after hearing an interview with author/lecturer David Wolfe on the Howard Stern show. Matt's desire to learn more about raw food preparation led him to Santa Monica, California, the heart of the raw food movement, where he soon began to share his talent with hundreds of people including celebrities such as Margaret Cho, Woody Harrelson, Courtney Love, and Alicia Silverstone.

I learned about this book from my local Raw Food Group that has potlucks once a month. My friend and I have served a few dishes from this book at that event and other events and everyone raves about the "eggless egg salad" (I LOVE IT myself). Also, the "raw tacos", "Thai Salad" (another TO DIE FOR recipe) and the "pierogies" are amazing! I can't tell you how many times I've made these recipes.
I think that each recipe in the book has a picture of how it looks prepared. I love that in a cook book! I've definietly gotten my money's worth out of it!

I thought this book was extremely well presented and have tried some of the recipes. The downside is that there weren't really that many recipes, I thought there might been a larger selection, but it was the first raw book I bought, so my hunt continues.

I dont know maybe I'm quite impressionable but the whole tone of this book put me right off Matt Amsden before I had even begun to try out any of his recipes. Is it a cultural thing? probably. From the ott dedication to the photos of Matt doing yoga, hanging out with the girlfriend on the beach etc and notes on "mental outlook and spiritual progression" the waft of American west coast hippy BS was overpowering. So I never got past it and should probably just resell the book and make back some money!! Sorry, not a review on the recipies though the lifestyle he tries to sell just dosent appeal, at least not his brand of it!!!
