I pre ordered Lews book months ago and when it finally arrived I wasnt disappointed. Its an easy book to read and follow for anybody, explains the reasoning behind her advice both scientifically and medically and is a very non judgemental book. She appreciates that one particular diet doesn't suit all dogs or owners and hence gives varying options to suit all. I also like the last section for specific diets for health issues. Its the one book that I would recommend to anybody that is interested in their dogs diet and health.

Having read articles on Lew's excellent site I ordered this book looking for more information and recipes for feeding my dog a homemade diet. As my dog is immune suppressed my vet recommended feeding home cooked rather than raw.When the book arrived I was therefore a bit disappointed to find that while there was loads of info on raw feeding the homecooked recipes were the same as the ones available free online.
That said it is an interesting book with easy to follow recipes.However,if you are switching to a home cooked diet (rather than raw)also be aware that the recipes include her own vitamin blends sold exclusively on her site in the States which limits its usefulness to uk readers.It would be more useful if rather than saying 1tsp of Bertes Blend (for example) the recipes had included a more detailed breakdown of the vitamins we should be feeding at each meal so we could substitute with another product. To be fair there is information elsewhere on the vitamins your dog requires so with a bit of maths you can work it out but if you are new to all this then it is nice to have a "recipe" you can follow exactly.If you are looking for an easy to read overview of canine nutritional needs or raw recipes get this book. If you only want home cooked recipes try online first.

I just read this newly published book by Lew Olson (b-Naturals owner) and give it two thumbs up. I recommend it for those new to raw feeding or who have dogs with health issues like pancreatitis, liver disease, heart, cancer, kidney etc. Lew lists several types of diets both cooked and raw. The info is non-judgemental and not "my way or the highway." I think most of us have read Lew's articles at her web site and this is an expanded compilation of her good advice.
