Although I've always eaten healthily, I have only recently been introduced to raw food. I went on a one-day course a few months ago - and haven't looked back! I am just amazed at the variety of dishes that can be made, and how good they can taste.

As I work full time, I wanted a straightforward and practical book with quick and easy recipes, using everyday ingredients, that would encourage me to include more raw food in my diet. This book is perfect! It is set out in a clear and logical manner, with easy-to-follow recipes and invaluable information on individual ingredients, equipment and utensils, and any necessary preparation. A juicer, blender or food processor are required for most recipes, although some require no special equipment. It is also of a handy size and has an attractive and inviting cover.

I have tried several recipes, all of which have only taken minutes to make, and have tasted delicious - and so healthy! I especially enjoyed the Energizing-Purifying Juice and Flourless Chocolate Cake with Chocolate Buttercream Frosting. I never knew avocado could be used in place of butter, cream and eggs and taste so divine! I have attached a few photos.

I like this book so much that I bought a copy for two of my friends, who are also raw food beginners.

All in all, an ideal kitchen companion for anyone who wishes to create easy, tasty and healthy meals, and discover the benefits and delights of raw food.

5.0 out of 5 stars A winner for the raw foodist 11 April 2006
Format:Paperback
I wasn't sure whether this book would be useful. The photographs are incredibly badly done, so I wasn't sure if the recipes would follow suit. However, having made my first meal (Lasagne) I can heartily recommend that recipe at least, and if the others are as good, the book will immediately become indispensable. The ingredients are easily available, even in the UK (not usually the case with American authors), and the recipes don't take all day to prepare. The lasagne asks you to marinade mushrooms for 10 minutes - even I could manage that!

5.0 out of 5 stars Useful 1 Feb 2008
Format:Paperback
This is an excellent book for the novice raw fooder or someone like me who wants to eat high raw with a family to feed. The best thing about this book and the way it is different from ALL the other raw food books is that it enables me to PLAN meals because the author notes how long the finished food will last. No other book does this. I know some people think you should make everything from scratch as and when needed, but this puts alot of people off. It is not practical with a family you are trying to feed healthily to not have anything in the fridge or cupboard that you can give them. You need to work in advance sometimes and that is possible with this book. I highly recommend it for this reason.

5.0 out of 5 stars Easy and delicious way to get started 25 Jun 2008
Format:Paperback
This is not the first raw food recipe book I've bought, but it is the first that's helpful enough to actually get me started. Last weekend I entertained friends for dinner twice, both times using recipes from this book. The chocolate mousse alone is worth the cover price!
European readers may wish to know that American weights & measures are used, but I haven't found this to be a problem.
I found the introduction and glossary very helpful as I'm just getting started with raw food, but I imagine this will be great for novices and old hands alike.

5.0 out of 5 stars Easy and quick to follow recipes 1 Feb 2009
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
This is a great introduction to raw food newbies and it is particularly excellent as it doesn't require a dehydrator. I have made alot of the recipes and even my 4 year old son loves the food. I would recommend this book with Jason Vales juice books as they make a good combination. As a busy mum, I really appreciate the simplicity of the recipes and none of the ingredients are difficult to find. You might find a spiraliser of use to make the courgette pasta but it is not a necessity.

3.0 out of 5 stars Some good ideas 3 Jan 2009
Format:Paperback
I bought this on the strength of the reviews and then almost wished I hadn't. Don't get me wrong, some bits are good, but I'm not impressed having paid for a book to find the recipe for grapefruit juice, containing one ingredient (Yes, grapefruit) 'Cut Grapefruit in half, extract juice, serve immediately' Also in this book is the recipe for Lemon water, ingredients are lemon juice and water... method is 'Pour water into glass, stir in lemon juice and serve immediately'

I'm sure Jennifer is a lovely woman, I am a strong advocate for the raw food way of life, I just wished the pages to be filled with less obvious info. If you are happy to pay for other sole ingredient recipes such as canteloupe smoothie; carrot juice; apple juice; orange juice then this might be the book for you. I'm really after quick, easy and inspiring recipes that do not take all day and a dozen ingredients that are a bit different to the Greek salad and lettuce sandwiches in this book.

One good thing about this book for me is that there is no mention of dehydrators as I don't have one and I prefer recipes that don't need them. There are also a few recipes that are quite handy like pie crust and crumble topping made with nuts, coconut etc.

If you're just starting to think about raw food and need the simplest of things explaining this might be a good book for you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Raw Food Made Easy 5 May 2010
Format:Paperback
This is a great book if you are new to raw food, or want to try out some raw cuisine. I have made a lot of the recipes in here now, and am very impressed by most. I don't have any raw food 'equipment' like a vita mix or dehydrator. I just have a standard kenwood blender, and I got on fine with the recipes! Highly recommended!!
