Have you ever fancied playing mind games? If so Wit's End is for you. The game, consisting of 1,600 questions and 400 game cards, is packed with brainteasers that will exercise undiscovered areas of your mind. If you are a lateral thinker or have spent long evenings playing trivial pursuits, this is a game not to be missed.
The board is made up of four levels--blue, green, red and purple--with the aim being to travel around the board and be first to climb to the centre (via the different levels) by answering the questions correctly. The levels do not reflect the difficulty of the question so much as the category, which is determined by the square on which you land. Play can travel in either direction and, if you land on a square below an arrow, you may move up to the next level (a bit like snakes and ladders, without the snake).
The questions fall into four categories, each posing a different challenge. The "Teaser" asks you to determine the relationship between given phrases. The "Odd One Out" asks you to identify which of four statements do not fit. The "Sequence" card asks you to list events or options in a given order. The "Wild Card" keeps you guessing.
When you arrive at the centre you have one final question to answer. You may state a preference in category at this stage as no dice can be rolled. The first player to get to this stage and answer their question correctly is the winner. There are also options that can earned throughout the game: the "Bonus" option gives you the opportunity to promote yourself to an upper level, and the "Sorry" option is where the snake comes in and allows you to demote an opponent to a lower level. These options add an element of luck to this challenging and entertaining game.

WIT'S END, WIT'S END, WIT'S END. I have been waiting for a game like this. I love trivia and fact based games, but feel there has been a great void in that area since the hey day of Trivial Pursuit. The game is not at all like Trivial Pursuit - It is better! Instead of straight questions, Wit's End has mind teasing categories. These categories use all types of facts - historical, geographical, biological, political or on a more popular level - sports, movies, famous people, etc. Also, there is an added twist - you can periodically promote or demote opponents or yourself, depending on if you provide the right (or wrong) answer. We, of course, kept demoting the person closest to the finish square. I definitely recommend WIT'S END - playing it is a great way to socialize with your friends and family and have great fun doing it.

This belongs in your game collection. You'll be playing it forever and it's fun. There's a nice touch: you combine your knowledge of facts and your reasoning capabilities (really putting you at your `Wit's End' on occasion). There is more than enough food for thought in the first three general categories - called Teasers, Odd1Out and Sequence (the names fit perfectly) - and I think I counted 12 (maybe 13) different `brain riddle' types in the fourth general category - Wild Card. The researchers must have been working overtime to make the questions both interesting and challenging, and I appreciate the chance to see `how and why' the answer was derived by looking at the accompanying explanations on the cards. This is definitely for those of us who truly like to think once in a while.

I am a 30 year old professional who bought this game for a dinner party. Wit's End stole the show!!! If you like bright, competitive people and are tired of run-of-the-mill trivia, try this game. The questions are challenging, but you do have multiple choice answers - at least the information is in front of you - so no one should feel like an idiot for not having a reply. The range of material is phenomenal! Full marks, people!!!
