Review
Giles Kristian captures the lyrical cadences of Anglo-Saxon verse in his poetic narrative. It's a masterly achievement, full of blood-drenched battle scenes, yet with tender moments too. The young narrator Raven earns his spurs among grizzled older Vikings as they maraud Mediterranean shores. Kristian evokes the warriors' stubborn camaraderie and their own strange code.
