My 6 year old son was a bit stuck with time telling, so Santa put this in his stocking for him (I think he buys a lot from Amazon - perhaps you could pass on our thanks?) Over the holidays he has been practising with his watch, finding the long minute hand, reading the number around the outside in the red / blue bit that it's pointing to, then checking if it's on the 'to' or 'past' side, then finally finding the hour. His time telling sounds a little like "twenty-five...past...five?" [for example] but he has grown in confidence over just 4 days and is now losing the question mark at the end! He is also learning his 5 times table on it and adding / subtracting 5!
A couple of niggles I have with the watch are firstly that it says 05 rather than 5, which confuses him and he reads it as 50, and secondly that is says 15 on the quarters and 30 at half past. While this is correct, it sounds odd to say "fifteen to...thirty past (or is it "30 to..."?) so while he's learning by working out how many minutes past & to, I feel it would be better to have 1/4 and 1/2 printed there.
The minute numbers are small, but after a couple of attempts he found them and now knows where to look & can read them. I feel that if they were bigger it would be hard to differentiate between the minute and hour numbers.
He is comfortable wearing it all day, but needs help taking it off at night. It fits him on the smallest fastening - there are 7 holes - and he wears age 6-7 clothes, so would be too loose on a smaller child, but will fit my son for a long time.
I have given it 4/5 stars because of the '15/30' and the '05' numbering, as mentioned earlier. They annoy me enough to lose a star, but only one! Other than that it's a great little watch.
