Nick Adams is just a normal guy. He loves his family, appreciates his home, and covets his car. But he absolutely hates his job. Which is what makes it so difficult that not a single customer has come by his store today. It seems as though there’s a bug going around, something that has come out of nowhere and is keeping people at home. Still, it’s probably nothing to worry about. People get sick all the time.

And besides, things are finally starting to look up. Nick’s first customer of the day has just stumbled through the door…

It won’t be long before Nick’s entire life is turned upside down, sending him on a frantic journey through a ravaged world that will ultimately lead him 500 feet upwards to a hilltop amusement park. Is it the last safe place on Earth, or are the monsters at the top of the hill even worse than the ones below?

"Iain Rob Wright scares the hell out of me." J A Konrath

"Cuddle up to this novel and it might rip your throat out. A fun, thrilling read!" David T. Wilbanks - Co-author of Dead Earth: The Vengeance Road

"One of the BEST horror books I have read in YEARS!" - Eric S. Brown, author of Last Stand in a Dead Land

"Wright has achieved a hell of a lot with this novel, pulling together an enjoyable and quite light-hearted apocalyptic romp" - DREADLOCKSMILE

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant zombie horror! 31 May 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
I was lucky enough to be one of the few who got to pre-read this. Iain Rob Wright asked for any criticisms/suggestions we might have, and I can honestly say I had none. I have nothing but praise for this book! I was hooked from the first page and found it hard to put it down. As usual with Iain's books, the characters were so realistic, you get to know each of them almost personally and I had to keep reminding myself it was a story and that I wasn't living through the horror with them!

Definitely a zombie book with a difference. I had no idea what was going to happen next and I didn't even try to guess! It's one of those books that's full of surprises and you never know who you can trust! I loved it, and highly recommend it to anyone who likes great characters, a gripping storyline and a nice bit of gore!

3.0 out of 5 stars None 29 July 2013

This was well written and worth reading. However, it was disconcerting, even irritating, to find the frequent use of American English from characters in a novel with a British setting.

5.0 out of 5 stars Horror in an amusement park - a brilliant book! 20 July 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Another brilliant story from Mr Wright. I immediately loved Nick, the main character, and the fantastic storyline. A horror set in an amusement park, not to mention the weird and wonderful cast of characters that Nick finds himself with whilst fighting to survive - genius!
While it's no secret that I'm a big fan of this author's work, I really think that other readers will enjoy it, even if they are not neccessarily fans of horror books. Put it this way, if you enjoy The Walking Dead on TV you're gonna love this!

Fantastic reading. This story grabs you from the very start and there is action all the way through with a few twists. I will be reading more of this author's work and if it's half as good as this I won't be disappointed

5.0 out of 5 stars So much more than a zombie book 30 May 2013
By paul
Format:Kindle Edition
You`ve heard reviews like this before praising books about zombies and saying that they are so different from the others on the market, but believe me this one is.
I received a copy from the author to give an honest review and constructive criticism but i can honestly say i was not expecting such a thrill ride and totally engrossing story.
Wonderful characters, great story line, a few unexpected twists....and yes zombies and it all added up to one of the best books i`ve read in ages.
Iain has really set himself a new bench-mark with this one, and as i said to him i completely forgot i was reading an up-and coming author as the book took me back to to days of early Stephen King and James Herbert!
Cannot recommend highly enough, and even though i received a free un-edited copy, (you wouldnt know as there were very few typos etc), i am now going to buy a real copy (the pre-edited version was called `Fever`)
Let Iain take you to the darkest reaches of his imagination, you wont regret it!

2.0 out of 5 stars Not great.. 30 Oct 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
So I've just finished reading The Walking Dea......I mean Ravage! How did horror's Mr Wright go oh so wrong?!

I should mention now that this was a free review copy so I don't know whether it's been updated since, however the copy I had was absolutely littered with typos. Not only is there misspelt words, but there are also words missing in places making it quite difficult to read. I have discussed this with someone who bought their copy from Amazon and apparently it does have the same issue.

This is a real gripe I have with many Indie Authors, getting spellings right and making sure it makes sense is purely having pride in your work. If you expect someone to buy your work, for god's sake, at least run spell check!

The story starts ok, but as you read on it seems to lapse into American. A couple of times I double checked that it was indeed set in England.

Another gripe.. please, please, if you cannot write in accents..DON'T. The accents written in this book do not come across correctly. If you're going to try to write in an accent, sound it out first and then write it. The big problem is, if you get it wrong, you simply come across a bit racist.

There are no particularly likeable characters in this book. I really wanted to like them, but they are all decidedly horrible people on at least one occasion throughout the story. I realise that a zombie apocalypse would probably cause all of us to turn on at least one friend or acquaintance, the pressure is on to survive, tempers flare, people try to become the leader of the pack, I get that.

The only characters in this book who have unusual names are those with a shady past, I'm not sure if that was accidental or whether it was done on purpose.

Loved the characters, which in my view is vital if a zombie book is to be enjoyed. Great underlying story, would really recommend this author. Actually wanted to give 4.5 stars!
