I agree with the other Amazon US posters who were disappointed in this author's writing style, which was replete with poor grammar and weak sentences. This was a case I found interesting and I learned more about it from reading articles about it and watching the Biography Channel Segment on Vicki Lyn Robinson and her daughter, Valessa, then 15.
On June 27, 1998 Vicki Lyn Robinson, a single mother was abducted. Over time, the trail ended at her daughter, Valessa's feet and those of her two friends, Adam "Rattlesnake" Davis, 19 and John Whispel, 19. The three youths were responsible for the woman's death and would later flee Florida only to be caught in Texas and brought to justice. They admitted to the murder as Vicki was trying to keep Valessa, then a minor from dating Adam. Adam was also a drug dealer and a car thief.
The murder was bad enough, but to make matters even worse, Vicki Lyn's body was found discarded in a dumpster. Valessa was sentenced to 20 years in prison and was tried as an adult. Her older sister Michelle, 19 in 2000 as well as other relatives spoke in Valessa's defense, but the vote was split. There were other relatives who wanted Valessa to get the maximum sentence for not only killing somebody they loved, but for the sheer brutality of the crime and the callous way the defendants tried to hide Vicki Lyn. Given their history, Valessa had absolutely NO excuse and no justifiable reason to commit matricide. No reason at all.
Another reviewer hit the nail on the head - the late Jack Olsen would have done an excellent job of covering this story and veteran true crime author Ann Rule would have as well. So would Gregg Olsen.
