5.0 out of 5 stars Exceptional natural history book 9 Jun 2012
One of the reasons why I am so enthusiastic about this book, is its striking photography. It has truly captured the wonderful landscape that Ireland has to offer. Each and every photograph is absolutely stunning, and creates a vivid portrait of these rare mosses and plants that one may not see everyday. However, this is surpassed by the effort and pure passion that these three men (and many others I'm sure) have put into making this book. It is their true interest in bryophytes that really makes this ecological book so magnificent.

This book is a delight. It has a mass of wonderful illustrations of both habitats and species. The readable descriptions are valuable for identification in UK as well as Ireland. The two main contributors are very knowledgeable and experienced bryologists and bring this background to their writing. And the price is so reasonable for a very large book. I really do love this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars rare and threatened bryophytes of ireland 25 Nov 2012
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
An absolute must for anyone with an interest in Bryophytes. Comprehensive details are given for all the species described including high quality pics. There are also excellent habitat pics and a useful site guide. For more details there is a thorough review present by Dr. Joanne Denyer in the Nov 2012 issue of Field Bryology (BBS). There is just one slightly negative issue I should mention which is regards to the size and weight of the book. It is an extremely heavy book and not one that can you can read comfortably in an armchair and it does not fit well on the book shelf.
