Product Description

CD Description

Teensville Is here!! Bringing you the best in obscure and seldom heard tracks of the early 1960 s. This first issue, Rare Teenage Pop The Girls contains mostly unheard tracks in the girl group and female teen genre of the early 60 s. There are also some rare tracks by more known artists such as Dodie Stevens, Georgia Gibbs and Anita Bryant which gives this package a great balance. There are ballads, uptempo and rockin numbers and throughout this great girlie compilation you will hear elements of Northern soul, Belgium Popcorn, R & B and Pop. This will take you back to a fun time when music was full of melody and most of all fun. A Bumper 30 tracks with a great 8 page booklet containing rare label scans and rare artists pics. A must for the early 60 s collector especially if you love the girl group sound.

Worth a Listen 22 Mar 2010
By Mrs. T. A. Papworth TOP 1000 REVIEWER

The sound quality of this cd (given the rarity of some of these tracks) is very good. One or two are disc dubs - but still sound good. The booklet has the basic recording info, some nice label scans but no liner notes. The music ranges from the twee to the very good. Some great tracks that stand out are 'A date for crying' - Dawn Glass, the calypso flavoured 'A step in the right direction' - Dotty Clark, 'Something on my mind' - Bobbi Martin and the wonderful 'Have you had a change of heart' - Donna Lewis. Overall if you like 60's femme pop then you need to snap up a copy of this very good compilation. Cheers Teensville Records.

From Down Under 2 May 2010
By Richard
Teensville is a sub of Rare Rockin' Records who have also issued a set of Hot Boppin' Girls
Here most of the girls are Pixies of which Anita Gordon's Scaredy Cat is as great as Hell.
Few names ever landed even in the Bubbling Under section and what few ever had hit singles would be Georgia Gibbs,Bobbi Martin,Dodie Stevens and Anita Bryant-not noted as high school but dabbled at its edges
The odd name may be recognisable from another area-Judy Harriet was a Pixie from Disney (same as Annette) and Annette Ferra was one of the Spectors 3.Not forgetting Jan Burnette the token Britgirl who made a few singles for Oriole.
Otherwise this is Pixie Heaven

If you like girl groups of the 60's this is the best compilation money can but "IT IS GREAT",track after track is superb. I listen to the radio most days (for 49 years ) and have never heard one of these great tracks. You will not be disappointed.
