Studying for finals as we speak. This book is proving to be a very resource for surgical. 1 (maximum 2) pages on each of the major sugical conditions.

Consistent layout taking you throught definitions, epidemiology, pathophysiology, signs and symptoms, investigations, management, complication and prognosis on all of the major surgical conditions.

Definetely recommend this as a cramming book. Also, when at you wits end with studying this book really can be picked up for just 5 minutes with a cup of tea. One topic at a time works just as well as a 2 hour read with this book.

I feel bad marking it down to three stars. It really is a good and useful book for medical students, but there is sooo much overlap with Rapid Medicine. Likewise most buyers would probably need both rapid Surgery and Medicine (it seems aimed for medical students). Owning both books feels both necessary to cover any medical curriculum and rather wasteful/extravagant.

If you are a medical student trying to get by with only Rapid Medicine, i'm afraid you will need this too as it has all the causes of Acute Abdomen!

Good luck

This book is not the most attractive text ever written, but what it lacks on graphology, it makes up for in content.

The breadth of the book makes it appealing for those revising for finals, and no doubt for those house officers doubting their previous surgical experience- it could be a useful revision text- it expects a reasonable amount of knowledge though to begin with. For those people just starting a surgical attachment, they might want to look elsewhere before using this as a cramming text.
