3.0 out of 5 stars A long time coming, but still some way to go?, 24 Oct 2001
By A Customer
This was a gift from someone who knew I wanted to run a PISCES campaign based on information about Goatswood in 'Delta Green: Countdown'.

Herein lies my biggest problem. I will use this as part of a PISCES campaign but altering it radically. There is no attempt to reconcile or acknowledge Chaosium and Pagan Publishing's very different takes on Goatswood. I know two different groups are behind each book, but at least some reference could have been made in 'Goatswood' with regard to utilising aspects of the Delta Green setting. 'Unseen Masters' did, so why not here?

Information also kept being repeated. Yes, it is handy to have info where required, but here it is overkill. This also ties into my feelings on the sourcepack element; wide-ranging but lacking weight. I haven't the space to discuss the (satirical?)essay on 21st century Britain!

Positively, Goatswood information is now easily found in one volume that is certainly of great use to non-UK referees. Most importantly, the scenarios (on reading them through) more often than not capture the air of depression, degradation and brooding corruption that Cthulhu Now or Delta Green settings require.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not worth the money, 1 May 2008

Don't expect a source book with the same richness and attention to detail that was found in the Miskatonic valley guidebooks. I was really hoping that this book would be excellent, but it's (at best) mediocre pretty much throughout. There is also a huge amount of unnecessary repetition throughout and only one of the scenarios has the least air of menace about it. Don't waist your money. It seems that Chaosium are starting to put out some really sloppy supplements.
