5.0 out of 5 stars QUALITY AND QUANTITY 10 Jan 2002
Format:Audio CD
As an old school punk, one of the albums that still stands out to this day is this one.28 songs of such high quality that suck you in from the opening chords of "rockaway beach" and spits you out three quarters of an hour later with "we're a happy family".Along the way, we are treated to possibly the finest Ramones album to date, comprising all the classics, such as "Sheena", "pinhead", "commando","today your love, tomorrow the world" and "oh oh i love her so".Quality wise, quantity wise and content wise, it doesnt come any better than this. A must buy for anyone thinking of getting into the Ramones.Joey will be looking down on us all, proud to have left something so good. R.I.P.

5.0 out of 5 stars what they were all about 14 Mar 2006
By David Johnson VINE VOICE
Format:Audio CD
If someone asked me what Ramones CD to buy first it would have to be this. I´t´s one of the greastest live recordings I´ve ever heard and it truly captures The Ramones in their element.
Every track burns into the other at breakneck speed, the only pauses last for a few seconds where you can hear the click of drum sticks together in the background.
"Rockaway beach," is a fanstastic entry and all the tracks have so much energy here.
This record is also worth buying because you get a lot of Ramones favourites on one record,"Blitzkreig Bop," Sheena is a punk rocker," Do you wanna dance," are all here.
I always say that what other bands spend over three minutes doing, The Ramones achieve in 90 seconds. There is plenty of evidence of that here. Full throttle, melodic songs from the beginning to last. The essential Ramones record.

5.0 out of 5 stars Now can it have 5 stars?? I think so!!! 17 Sep 2007
Here's the track listing for the DVD...

Admittedly there's a large chunk of the New Years Eve Rainbow show (It's Alive) omitted but that is because when the master tapes were found, after being presumed lost for nearly 30 years, some of the show was missing. Also, the soundtrack of this film footage was missing so Tommy Ramone has spent the last two years matching up the original audio recordings to the film... And apparently that's not as easy as it might sound. I think that the album recording has overdubs and some of the songs on the album are taken from other shows during the same tour, so it didn't match up with the film footage!

5.0 out of 5 stars 1000 stars 29 July 2003
Format:Audio CD
I dare anyone out there to find a better live album than this. Without question this is pure 100% quality.
You don't get any of that idle crowd chat on this album as soon as you have soaked in one track, boom!!, your into another.
No time for a quick beer or something to eat or the loo when this is on.
I suggest you set the cd player to repeat, sit in your favourite chair, crank up the volume and let the music blow you away.
Don't think about buying it just buy it.

By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
28 tracks played with little or no break, apart from the odd "1234" count in.All the classics are here, blitzkrieg bop, cretin hop, commando, sheena is a punk rocker all played faster and more powerfully than the previous studio recorded versions.Still stands up today as one of the best live albums of all time.RIP Joey, the true king of punk!

5.0 out of 5 stars We accept you, one of us! 31 Oct 2007
This is what Ramones fans have waited so long to see - the NYE Rainbow concert - you can actually feel the hairs standing up on the back of your neck as your eyes and ears feast on this DVD masterpiece. Just buy this DVD for this classic performance alone. As all die-hard Ramones fans know the 'Its Alive' Album is the best live recording of a band- ever. It's like plugging yourself into the mains for an hour - high energy, unrelenting,'take no prisoners' punk rock.Totally draining and totally satisfying at the same time. My son asked me today what it was like to go to a Ramones concert.'It was like a religious experience', I told him! The original tapes of the album should now be digitally re-mastered and re-issued. This DVD is what the 1996 'We're Outta Here' should have been like - instead of the mess that director Kevin Kerslake made of it. How Gary Kurfirst and Ira Lippy could have allowed the final Ramones concert to have been so poorly recorded for posterity I will never know. The Its Alive DVD meanwhile is outstanding and a fitting tribute to da brudders. The Ramones were heaven sent and it's from there that Joey, Johnny and Dee Dee now look down on us enjoying this live performance - as we enjoyed them live at the The Electric Ballroom, the Town and Country Club,Hammersmith Palais, Brixton Academy, Brighton, Friars Aylesbury etc etc.Buy it now!

You had to be there to appreciate punk, or at least the 70s wave. The real talents in 'plug-in and blast' minimalist rock were the mid-and late-60s US garage outfits, like the... Read more
