Raising Sheep The Modern Way is a good book, but since it was written in 1989, show techniques, and market industry requirements are a bit outdated. It is a good book for the beginning shepherd, but not the advanced showman.

I give this book to every person that I sell one of my miniature sheep to It saves the new owners a lot of time and frustration with with their new pet sheep.I was told about this book when I first started looking to purchase miniature sheep. It saved me money on everything that I needed for the mini's.It gives a good over all on everything from buying thru birthing,feeding,fence types,shelters,and covers most of the breeds.It also includes some medicine advice.

Raising Sheep the Modern Way covers everthing from breeds of sheep to recipes. It is a must read for anyone new to raising sheep, and is a good reference book for the experienced shepherd as well. I have been in the sheep business for 14 years. I purchased the book when I bought my first ewe, and I still refer to it a couple of times each year.
