I loved this book from start to finish, thank you so much to Lory Lillian for writing it. If you're a fan of Abigail Reynold's Pemberley Variations, or Kara Louise's alternative P&P stories, then you should definitely enjoy this.
A few days before the Netherfield Ball, Elizabeth is out walking and gets caught in a rainstorm. While seeking shelter, she encounters Mr Darcy, and the pair find refuge in a little cottage. While the rain is pouring outside, Darcy and Elizabeth get a chance to sort out some of their differences and misunderstandings, and by the time Elizabeth is returned to Longbourn they understand each other much better, and are starting, tentatively to fall in love with each other.
Many of the main events from P&P arise in Rainy Days - Caroline Bingley's interference, Wickham and Lydia's elopement, Lady Catherine's attack on Elizabeth, but they unfold in a different way, mainly due to Darcy and Elizabeth's better relationship. We get to know Darcy's Aunt and Uncle - Lord and Lady Matlock, and some of the Gardiner cousins - Becky in particular is a wonderful character.
I thought that the characters were believable, the plot enjoyable, and I couldn't put the book down until it was finished.
I don't think it will be long before I'm picking it up again!
