This book is practical with real life examples of how you can collect and use rainwater even in the driest areas of the planet. A very user friendly and idiot proof book with lots of low cost plans to regreen your little piece of terra. His ideas are radical but at the same time they are common sense. We have just bought a piece of land in a very dry area of the world. When I started reading it I immediately felt priviledged (a bit like The Man Who Planted Trees !) to have this information so that I might improve my life and the lives of many people, animals, and plants all around me in our new home.

Problems of soil erosion, impoverished urban environments and shrinking wildlife habitats are addressed as well - and he does it with a sense of humour and lots of creativity. If you live, or are planning to live in a dry place then I recommend you buy this book and its sister volume 2.
