I hate waiting for the following books. I have no patience for it, and if I had realised that I was going to have to wait almost 2 months for the final two books from this trilogy I would have waited to buy this (told ya I was impatient).

The Raintree Trilogy are the stories of Dante, Gideon and Mercy Raintree - wizards, masters of the elements, witches - however you want to put it.

Raintree Inferno is Dane's story. He meets Lorna Clay, and the passion he feels for her burns brighter than any fire he has ever felt, But he has enemies - enemies who want to bring an end to the Raintree clan, and bringing Lorna into such a fight is a difficult decision.

Snappy dialogue, interesting background, hot lovemaking scenes (although not too many) made for a good read. Why only four stars? Cos the story is so inextricably linked with the follow ups that it feels unfinished, not something I am used to from Linda Howard.

I will buy the following two, just to see where this ends. Enjoyed it but wish I had managed to get the trilogy in one go!

Linda Howard writes some wonderful romances e.g. Cry no more, White Lies, After the Night etc..but recently seems to have lost her edge (cover of night). This is a run of the mill romance not up to her usual high standards. Having said that, it is still worth a read. The heroine is lucky with numbers but doesn't realise is that she has special powers which the casino owner is going to show to her. As this is the first novel in a series of three, there are an awful lot of explanations too many for me!

Dante is the leader of his clan, the Raintree clan, at war with the Ansara Clan. He has power over fire. He runs a casino and when he notices Lorna Clay winning just a little too often, he's curious about her. When she walks into his office he's attracted. When his casino bursts into flames, he's wary.

It's a good read, I'd be as annoyed as she was with some of his behaviour and she does take a lot at face value. However he's an interesting Alpha Male without being too much, and it's completely within his character to be so alpha. She's a strong character too and gives as good as she takes.

Enjoyable and I'm looking forward to more by this author.
