3.0 out of 5 stars I did not enjoy this book as much as I had anticipated, 1 Nov 2007
I felt that Mercy was the weakest of the Raintree royals. Her powers seem to leave her in a weakened state. Her weakness was constantly illustrated in her dealings with her daughter and ex-lover. I wanted Mercy to be as strong as her brothers. While she did illustrate her bravery in the battle scenes, it wasn't enough. The book lost a lot of appeal for me because Mercy was more a damsel in distress instead of a strong Princess. The book does give more insight into the Ansara saga. While Beverly Barton did manage to tie in the first two books, I felt this book was more about the Ansaras than Mercy Raintree.

3.0 out of 5 stars Wasn't as good as the two brothers, 27 Jan 2008

I didn't like this book at all, the hero hated and was going to kill the heroine right up to the end of the book.

How is that romantic? Your right it's not!!

I know they are/were?!? enemies but did we have to read how it's his right to kill her and it was not as if it was him just saying it at face value to the person in front of him. The writer let you read that he was thinking it as well.

I always find this when there is a trilogy of stories, the first one is great, the second is good too because it gives more background to what's going on and then the third story is just not as good, it's a let down and this story confirmed that.

4.0 out of 5 stars Quite Good, 7 Aug 2008
Contrary to other reviewers I found this book to be the best in the trilogy. This could be because I found the characters daughter "Eve" to be very entertaining and endearing. Also, I liked the male character/ the Ansara king, as he had a dark side and was not the typical alpha male found in romance novels. I agree that Mercy was a bit weak in character. Anyway, all in all it was a nice read and I would recommend to readers who like me enjoy books in which the characters have kids.
