Album Description

Máiréad Nesbitt, member of a well-known musical family, comes from Loughmore, Co. Tipperary. Máiréad, who began playing the piano at the age of 4 and the fiddle at 6, is a former All-Ireland fiddle champion. Following her formal training, she became a professional violinist with the RTÉ Concert Orchestra in 1991. She also worked on-stage and in-studio with many well-known musicians, among them Nigel Kennedy, Van Morrison, Sinead O'Connor, Clannad, Emmylou Harris, Aslan, Chris De Burgh and Jimmy Webb, and including more traditional Irish artists Dónal Lunny, Sharon Shannon, Paul Brady, Frances Black, Cooney and Begley, and Jimmy McCarthy. On the 9th September 2004, Máiréad played for HRH Princess Anne on her secret visit to Dublin for the ISPCC charity and in September 2004 she was one of the five soloists highlighted in the show 'Celtic Woman' which was recorded at the Helix, Dublin.

5.0 out of 5 stars Definitely 5 stars!, 5 Aug 2003
This review is from: Raining Up (Audio CD)
A good blend of traditional and modern celtic sounds,a bit more mellow than the Lord of the Dance/Feet Of Flames soundtracks but nevertheless a great first album from Mairead.

This review is from: Raining Up (Audio CD)
This CD will make you both smile and shed a tear. You will find pieces that are jolly and energizing, pieces that are soothing and relaxing and pieces that are emotional and sad. It has it all! It's an inner journey that lightens you...it's music for your soul.
As you can read, I absolutely love Máiréad Nesbitts debut album Raining Up. It's wonderful, and I can't recommend it enough!
