Product Description

Album Description

A quick rewind. It's late in 1996 and at the tender age of twenty with a Sony Music record deal swinging from his backpack, Mundy, releases his debut album "Jellylegs". He gets to play with Neil Young, Van Morrison and The Manic Street Preachers, to name but a few, and "Jellylegs" goes on to sell 50,000 copies across the globe. One of the tracks from it To You I Bestow, was chosen for the soundtrack to the massive box office smash Romeo and Juliet, directed by the enigmatic Baz Luhrman. The movie soundtrack went on to sell more than 11 million copies worldwide. Mundy then went on to release a few EP’s and a new album "24 Star Hotel" on his own Camcor label, following the lead towards independence set by David Gray, The Frames and Damien Rice. A collection of 12 songs dealing with love, life, addiction and travel. Recorded in London with legendary producer Tommy D suddenly he had bona-fida radio hits in Ireland. 'July' became a summer anthem ("another gorgeous levi ass") and 'Mexico' and lynchpin' became huge live favourites. Before he knew it he was in DIY heaven with a platinum album (15,000). By 2004 he's sold 27,000 copies in Ireland alone. Proving that it could be done on his own Mundy has now upped the ante with the release of "Raining Down Arrows", a much more complete album that is already bringing Mundy to the attention of audiences, record buyers and TV producers across the land. With this release Mundy should jump up a league and become the household name he deserves to be.

THis is Mundy's third album but is very different from the first two. Although his second '24 Star Hotel' used more technology, Raining Down Arrows is more back to basics. That said it has a very broad sound and there's echoes of Steve Earle, Lucinda Williams and Bruce Springsteen through out, There's classic singles like 'By Her Side' and 'Love & Confusion' which really should be on the radio all the time but there's also mellower moments like 'You're The One' (a simple breathy love song) and the amazing title track Raining Down Arrows, a resigned love song with a swollen and epic chorus. It's taken a while but Mundy is really proving himself to be a great songwriter. He's really built up a great catalogue of songs, well worth checking out.
