The synopsis on the reverse of this book tells of a 16 year journey through some of the most amazing places on the plant. because of this you expext the images to be truly brilliant and they are. having seen some preview images i was astounded by the quality but when you actually get the book in your hands the quality screems out to you in a blaze of colour and clarity.

I think that this book is the most amazing book i have ever seen and have now made it my favourite book. Being a passionate nature photographer i have found all the inspiration i will ever need.

Anyone who is interested in photography, nature or anything really will thoroughly enjoy this book. A visual masterpiece!

Marent's labour of love and devotion receives epic treatment from his publishers. The images are sensitive, feeling and without exception a delight to the eye - and a prayer for preservation. The reproduction is from some of the best drum scanning I've ever seen, and is itself some of the best mass printing I've ever seen - and I know about print production. At the Amazon discounts, this book is a steal - and it may inspire to do what you can to help preserve the glory which are the earth's rain forests. Perfect Christmas present, by the way.

I originally bought this book because I assumed it was a factual book about the rainforest and its inhabitants. However, I was mistaken- but I'm glad that I was, because I wouldn't have acquired it otherwise. This book is completely stunning. The photography is amazing as are the numerous anecdotes inside, mapping the photographer's journey into the rainforest, and his encounters therein. There is also sparse information here and there.

This book is not a factual book where you get to memorise facts about the rainforest, but it is a fantastic compilation of photographs and anecdotes, which you probably won't see in many other books.

I recommend this!

Brilliant book this, geniunly one fo the most comprehensive natural photography books availible, the information is interesting and thomas marent (the photographer) offers insites into how much effort he put into painstakingly capturing images of all the animals in the book.

the images themselves are insanly detailed and well printed, all in a nice textured spot-UV cover.

my only gripe: thomas marent's website says the book includes an audio CD, my edition didn't include this. if youve bothered to read this review you should probably buy the book (super cheap from new & used section!)

This book is beautiful. The photographs are stunning and it's always exciting to turn the page and see what is next. Everyone who has seen it has spent ages looking at it and been completely absorbed. This is probably the best book I have seen of its type and I am absolutely sure that it will give me many years of enjoyment-something to go back to time and again.

I bought this book partly for research and partly to enjoy myself.
I have to say that it exceeded my expectations tenfold.
Perhaps the reason I love this most is the fact that it actually does exactly what it sais on the cover.
I get annoyed but some stupidly names photographic books which may have one thing on the cover but contain very different images...
When I hear or see the word 'Rainforest' i imagine brightly coloured plants and animals, i imagine exotic places breathtaking views.
And on that, this book delivers which is why I give it the 5 stars it rightly deserves.
I agree with one comment that the book could have been given larger pages say A3 however then it would have been a lot more expensive and therefore less accessible so I think this was a happy compromise, I don't think the fact that many images are split down the middle is particularly annoying however i can see it being more annoying to others....
All in all though, this is a great book that truly deserves to be marvelled at as the subjects and images themselves, are truly breathtaking.

I bought this for my primary class as we've just started a rainforest topic... the captions may be a little over their heads, but the pictures are transfixing them! Amazing shots of landscapes and wildlife.
