Interesting Book 3 Sep 2010
By C. John
Format:Paperback
This book contains an interesting collection of encounters, on land and sea, by local and native peoples in Alaska and British Columbia, with the elusive Sasquatch. I have read a number of books on the subject of Sasquatch and this book managed to cover topics/ideas I have not previously encountered, like the use of 'markers'. It covers sightings on roads, beaches, in the water, mountains, vocalisation, signs, etc. Well worth a read if you are into this subject.

Canadian coast "investigation" 20 Jan 2004
By R. Howell - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
Being a sasquatch buff, I picked this book up in a little store in Bandon, Oregon. I'm glad I did. Robert Alley takes more than a passing interest look into the sasquatch phenomenon and keeps it to a region he is fairly familiar with, the coast and islands of British Columbia. Alley does an excellent job in his research and reiteration of the stories/sightings that he was told / investigated. For those that enjoy a good thorough look into sasquatch/bigfoot, pick this book up but keep in mind, Alley sticks to a limited region here; he does not talk about occurances in the U.S. as those can be found in many other books. It is a fairly limited geographical region he covers but he covers it exceptionally well. Definitely a book to pick up for the avid bigfoot follower.

Hard To Put Down 26 April 2006
By R. McRae - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
I've been caught-up in the whole Sasquatch/Cryptozoology phenomenon since Jr. High, and consider myself very well read on the subject; John Green, Rene Dahinden, Loren Coleman, etc. But found this particular book extremely interesting. I was aware of several remote sightings in our 49th state, but didn't realize how frequent the sightings, and the rich prospect of scientific breakthrough. I wouldn't be surprised if the final solving of this mystery occurs in Alaska. I did however expect more reports from British Columbia and Washington State, but past publications, and the numerous Internet websites cover those areas quite well. Stunning eyewitness accounts, and absorbing data. I can't wait for future works on the subject from Mr. Alley.

Raises the Bar for Alaska and BC Reports! 2 Jan 2009
By Sweet Sasquatch Odor - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
I really worry this book will soon be out of print. It offers the best coverage of sightings for the remote coastlines of British Columbia and Alaska EVER!

For those reviews that have mentioned that the book might be limited because of its "spatial" focus, I will say this is the book's strength. The bigfoot book genre will need to start moving in this focused direction to better serve readers and researchers. All the big stories have been covered many times over.

What Alley has done represents true research. He's traveled to these small fishing villages and hamlets and interviewed native populations to obtain never-before published accounts of sasquatch encounters. This is no easy chore either. Just look at a map of BC. North of Vacouver, there are only two roads to the coast: one to Prince Rupert and one to Bella Coola. The rest must be reached by boat, plane, helicopter or foot.

Raincoast Sasquatch is a rare look into the remote rainforests of British Columbia and Southeast Alaska. If you are a skeptic, you may want to find yourself a good chair. This book will have you questioning your place in the world.

Kudos to Alley. I hope he will one day publish a follow-up to this seminal work.
