Product Description

Juliet Crawford is in love. In love with life, in love with music, and in love with Paris -- the city where her dreams are meant to come true. Those dreams lie in tatters when Juliet loses an all-important conducting competition, and her ambition to lead one of the world's greatest orchestras seems destined to remain unfulfilled. Her despair is lifted when world-famous maestro Alexander Stoltze and his dashing young protege Karel Haken personally praise Juliet's conducting style. Yet Karel's interest in her is not purely professional. Her heart stolen, and then broken, Juliet seeks comfort from her friends back in Edinburgh, each of them, like her, facing not only the ups and downs of strong competition, but also the gruelling demands of life itself. With love and laughter they draw strength and support from one another and success is within Juliet's grasp. But is it possible to have everything?

Having read previous Eileen Ramsay novels, this one also concentrates on romance within the arts. Not being a musician, I can't answer for the accuracy but the novel is an excellent and enjoyable read, although it ends slightly abruptly. I leave you to work out the significance of the diamonds ...

Superb romance novel 23 Dec 2007
Format:Paperback
As an avid reader of romance novels, I was looking for a romance set in Paris, which was where I would be going in the next two weeks. "Rainbow's End", although not entirely set in Paris, was a beautiful choice for some reading in the City of Lights. Starting off in Paris, the novel follows the main protagonist Juliet Crawford in her career as a female conductor.

The novel is beautifully written, peppered with sophisticated cultural and musical references. The sizzling chemistry between Juliet and Karel Haken is immensely pleasurable and exciting. "Rainbow's End" is written with sincerity and warmth, and flows with ease through the pendulum of emotions and fears. From the first chapter to the last, it was a supremely enjoyable, but wise read. Eileen Ramsay takes a high leap into the excellence of literature, and reaffirms the belief in the complexities of identity and love. "Rainbow's End" is now on my favorite books list.

Absorbing read 23 Dec 2007
Format:Paperback
Although I am not normally a fan of romance novels, I have now read three of Eileen Ramsay's books, and have been captivated each time. Rainbow's End includes much more than romance, with the research into the musical background so thorough that one could almost hear the notes!
