Fun:
Good strong graphics, unparalled customization to any other Military based game, strong control and realisim. Far more fun to play single player than any of the games in the COD series. Multiplayer also, just as fun as COD - terroist hunt is so enjoyable showing of new items earned in campaine mode and testing their capabilities. The story is not the easiest to follow but anyone who can put this game down either isn't in the right state of mind or doesn't appreciate what this game is about. Although fair enough if you're not a fan of shooters.
Overall i would dub this game a triumph.

Outstanding 10 Feb 2010

Rainbow 6 Vegas is a tactical shooter. What that means is that there is no version of Hit Points, or Halo type shields - so getting shot is really bad for your health, and therefore you play in a careful measured style rather than leaping around with two plasma rifles. This may not sit that well with a hyperactive younger player, or be well suited to a drunken gaming session after coming home from the pub, but we've found it absolutely awesome for single or dual campaign play.

The game has excellent controls for letting you get the most out of peering round cover. Using maps, silencers, flash bangs, other grenades, player controlled NPC's, sliding snake cams under the doors, and most of all co-ordinated tactics to overcome the enemy. Myself and my best mate have been sitting in the same room going "Three. Two. One" before bursting into a room with designated halves to clear. We've had one player Squirt automatic fire round a corner to draw fire while the other lines up a quiet shot with a silenced sniper rifle. And with the controlled NPC's you can do all this and piles more in solo play too.

I like that there's a decent storyline behind what you're doing, that in a firefight the enemy uses adult language (my Mexican wife had a surprise when she walked in while I was in a shootout with some Latino gang bangers!) and that the mobs have a decent UI to use cover and try to flank.

It's a hell of a game. The controls are excellent. The levels are well designed. It's challenging without being punishing. And even with the extra firepower of multiplayer the campaign kept us busy all weekend. Frankly now it's going for the price of a couple of pints you'd be mad not to. I picked this up at the same time as Halo 3, and it was the one that got the most play.

If you are looking for a game which is in an everyday environment and with great graphics then this is your game. Although in some places hard to do it is a very gripping game and once you do what you were stuck on you feel very proud! Great graphics and senary also when you shoot someone there is good effects on the blood. the game is easy to pick up and great fun!!!!
