Product Description

Book Description

'LAST OF THE SUMMER WINE' ON PCP, STEROIDS AND CRACK'! Welcome to the rugged Northern wasteland where GAZZA is considered an effete intellectual, ELVIS would qualify as a health-food freak and Kosovo looks good for a winter break.

Trashing all before them, the psychotic RAIDERS OF THE LOW FOREHEAD maim, dismember, disembowel and slaughter the local cops and pensioners with gusto - and only one man can stop them.

Looking like an Oxfam poster-child with worms, seven stone weakling VINCE stands in their way. The world's last likely sex god is on a promise of guaranteed fingers and tops for life from SHARON - but only if he can bring the Raiders to justice AND free the unjustly imprisoned. But he faces another problem - banged-up LITTLE JOHNNY wants to stay in his cell AND in his gorgeous cell-mate.

Sicker than an outbreak of ebola in an orphanage, funnier than a napalm strike on the Comic Relief studios and punctuated by acts of such unspeakable ferocity that they'd have Hannibal Lecter coughing his guts up in disgust - RAIDERS OF THE LOW FOREHEAD is in your face, down your trousers and up your arse like a shit-eating rabbit on speed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Really Funny, Really Sick, 15 Jan 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Raiders of the Low Forehead (Attack!) (Paperback)
I have to agree with the other reviews. This is great mix of really sick humour and an amazing writing style. Kind of like an epic poem that beats you over the head all the time. Some of the jokes are really over the top but the writing holds it all together. I've never read anything else like it.

3.0 out of 5 stars A crude storey, nicely written., 11 April 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Raiders of the Low Forehead (Attack!) (Paperback)
This is an unusual book. It is at the same time crude and lyrical. It deals with crass subjects: sex, violence, and food, and a lot of the humour is somewhat low-brow; yet it is almost written in prose. Stanley Manly seems to have mixed very clever lyrical, almost poetic writing, with a very basic, almost non-existent plot. In other words, It isn't what he says that I like, Its how he says it. The book has other virtues as well, Its extremely funny for one, I laughed out loud at some moments. Like other books from Action! It is full of sex and violence (and food). A good laugh and worth reading for the unusual writing style.
