Format:Audio CD
As said in the other review this certainly is Roger Daltreys best ever album by far, even Daltrey himself has been quoted as saying this is his favourite. I bought the cassette of this when it was first realeased in about 1985 but it was deleted in the UK a few years later and I only recently managed to obtain a CD version on Amazon.com and even more recently in the last few years it has appeared here on the UK market via Amazon.co.uk.
I would describe this album as 'The WHO grown up'. The title track 'Under A Raging Moon' if you have not already guessed is a tribute to the late WHO drummer Keith Moon. The first track is also WHO related in that it was written by Pete Townsend. A song called 'After The Fire' which describes the plight of Daltrey the middle aged rocker perfectly, but the song can be taken many ways. My personal opinion is that it if Sylvester Stallone had heard it then I am sure he would have it used as the main soundtrack to his 2007 movie 'Rocky Balboa'.
Watch the move and listen to this track and you will see what I mean.
The track entitled 'Rebel' could so easily have blended in with the 'WHO' Album 'Quadrophenia'.
Take this line for example.... "Got my back to the wall and i'll fight till I fall, i'm a rebel."
Or this line...."Don't say i'm too young to remember, don't tell me what's wrong or whats right, just give me a chance to go out there and fight, i'm a rebel".
My personal favourite is 'The Pride You Hide' one of the many songs on this album that was co written by Roger Daltrey.
There is another outstanding song written by Bryon Adams Called 'Let Me Down Easy' which is reminisent of the WHO because of the parts between the singing when Daltrey shouts in a way that no other singer could ever shout. Think back to 'Wont Get Fooled Again' by the WHO and that scream that plants its signiture on the song and you will have an idea of what I am getting at, but this roar is completely different to that scream and is also totally unique to Daltrey.
I could describe why almost every song on this album could easily be my favourite Daltrey song ever, but it is proberly easier to mention the song that I do not like and that is the track called 'Fallen Angel' which seems to be a bit of a filler, but all of the rest are just fantastic.

1980s were tough times for every rocker, but this is somehow counter-argument. "After The Fire" (written by Pete Townshend himself) recaps sentimental mood & bitter regret that fills this forgotten gem.
"Under The Raging Moon" is as good as everything Daltrey's Mothership, The Who, ever recorded.
If you are looking for good 80s album by major rocker this is the place.
