I love this book. Before reading it, I really didn't know much at all about Etta James. Her name was familiar to me and I knew she sang 'At Last', but that was about it. I had no idea of the trials and tribulations that she went through in her life. The reason why I rate this book so highly is the fact that she is so brutally honest and upfront about everything she has done in her life whether it was wrong or right. From drug abuse, violence and criminal activity, she never sugar coats the bad things she has done. Etta is not afraid to paint herself in a bad light at certain times and this I can respect her for. The book was very, very entertaining, funny and sad at times but you feel quite uplifted by the end because she was able to get her life back on track. I would recommend this book for fans of Etta and also people who want to learn more about her, you wont be dissapointed.
