Synopsis

A surprisingly intelligent, entertaining sequel to the original Stephen King-penned high school prom nightmare. Twenty-three years later, Carrie's telekinetic half-sister Rachel (Bergl) is facing many of the same social hurdles as Carrie. When her best friend (Suvari), a fellow misfit, commits suicide as a result of being jilted by a jock who used her as a simple conquest, Rachel holds the knowledge that could deprive the football team of a key player. When she begins dating a football player (London), his jock friends target Rachel for revenge. Irving returns as Sue Snell, now a guidance counselor.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not a bad sequel at all!, 31 May 2001
By A Customer
Dont be put off by the '2 star' rating. This doesnt mean its a rubbish film, its obviously not in the same league as films such as The Green Mile and Gladiator, which is why i gave it only 2. I have the original Carrie on dvd and watched this sequel on sky. I wasnt expecting anything special, however, what i got was a good storyline and some good acting. The ending of the film has much more action than the 1st. The story of Carrie 2 does actually make sense. Its unfortunate that Mena Suvari had such a short role but the other actors do their jobs well. For the casual horror fan i wouldnt recommend buying this, however, the movie buff and the hardcore horror fans would definately want to add this to their collection.

3.0 out of 5 stars Half decent sequel, 23 Feb 2009
By Dismal Angel "Ash" (Scotland) - See all my reviews

"The Rage - Carrie 2" is admittedly half decent for a sequel, especially considering that Stephen King wasn't really involved with this follow up of his highly successful 1976 horror "Carrie". With only King's characters to work on, this was written just cleverly enough to be plausable in the horror world.

It's been over twenty years since Carrie White's rampage in the sleepy town. Sixteen year old Rachel Lang is a foster child to parents who barely seem to really love her, while her real mother is stuck in Arkham Asylum for severe mental illness.

Just like Carrie, Rachel has been telekinetic since a little girl but has managed to somehow keep her powers restrained enough to let her live a reasonably normal life. However, when her best friend and fellow outcast Lisa commits suicide, Rachel is thrown into emotional turmoil which begins to fuel her powers.

The High school Principal, Sue Snell (who we may remember from the original Carrie was the only survivor from the massacre), notices Rachel's gifts and fears that their sleepy town may be in for a repeat of history, and tries desperately to reach out to Rachel before it becomes too late to stop The Rage.

It's a good enough story, the characters were likeable enough, but somehow, the whole movie is more or less a remake of Carrie with some artistic license. But if you enjoyed the first, you may enjoy this. However, I should warn if you liked the original, and enjoyed the ambiguity of the movie's ending, it might be good to just let it lie.

1.0 out of 5 stars Just a re-hashed Carrie 1, 27 Jan 2002
By A Customer
Rachel is Carrie's sister. and although she's prettier and more intelligent, she has the same telekinetic abilities. Unfortunately Carrie 2 is no more than a carbon copy of Carrie 1 (but with new characters). After being killed in the original film Carrie/Rachel's religious lunatic mother is mysteriously brought back to life (by what or who I've no idea)! The ending is ridiculous as, like I mentioned above, it copies the original. Stick with Carrie 1 and give this garbage a wide berth.
