Graphics are wonderfully detailed which as you can guess makes your graphics card(s) work. The game is designed for Nvidia gpus which is obvious in the video settings where there is a transcode option which passes the massive texture decoding from cpu to gpu - this apparently is faster - not sure about this. I installed it on my primary machine, AMD FX-6300, 3.5ghz, 6 cores, load of ram and 2 x ATI Radeon 5870s XXX editions in crossfire. There is a benchmarking tool in the options that suggest you run it before playing to determine how fast your machine can decode the textures so I did on my primary machine, the score was 55 - lees than good. My second machine, very similar setup except I use a Nvidia 560ti (single card) whichhas lower spec. than just one of my ATI cards, so I ran the test. Score 127 excellent. Right I thought the Nvidia will play the game better...it doesn't. In fact there is no difference between my two machines with this game. It still looks great but you can see the screen tear just slightly when you turn your character. It's like the screen is split 50/50 along the horizontal and one half moves very, very slightly faster than the other. It is very minor and in no way game breaking but it can be seen. But as I said the graphics are brilliantly done.
Sound is great too, good voice acting, great music, it feels like you're in a film.
Gameplay - Its already been said they are way too many items in your inventory, most you'll use once. It is a little rushed in general, there are plants to be found in the wasteland that are really beneficial but there's little chance you'll ever see them as you speed past in order to avoid bandits.Read more ›
if your buying for pc its awesome and i dont care what anyone says. From a guy who's been playing FPS's since wolfenstein 3d came out (yes the early one on dos/windows 3.1) i stand by this one has one of the funnest 1 player games in existance. Generally challenging but make sure you play on hard, amazing characters and just a nice involvement of some side missions that arnt quite necessary but not going so open as to make the game have no real direction like many of the open world games these days.
Fact is most of the bad reviews for the game from some texture issues they had early on in the game, from what i gathered (considering i got the game pretty much the day it came out) these were just delays in some of the more intricate textures loading to stop the framerate from dropping, now i thought this was a great idea, but many people out there found if their pc was high enough spec, they might still get some of this but not need it.
Fact is they fixed it.
Expansion is fun but in no way necessary.
Multiplayer on a good connection has few comparables, its basically twisted metal but faster paced and more skill based. I loved twisted metal.
Anyways thats my view. If you want an fps thats fun, and i mean actually fun, not a grind or overly realistic like many of the others. Give rage a try, i think youll be pleasantly surprised.
As one additional note, anarchy edition isnt necessary but i do feel the sewer missions play a very important role, and i will always advise to play with the sewer missions, theyre great.
But shooting isn't the only thing you're doing, you can race around the world in your own upgradable vehicle and if that's not enough you can compete in races ranging from normal time trials to all out rocket launcher racing.
Graphics are maybe not looking great at all times because of the way the game engine streams textures, but it does it efficiently enough to run the game at good 60 frames per second at nearly all times.
The story is the following: You're a member of the Ark program. You and a few others were sealed inside a small vault to hide under the earth's surface to be revived and survive an incoming meteorite that would crash into the earth. When you're finally released out of your cryonic chamber a much longer time period has passed than it was planned and you're stuck in an apocalyptic world. To survive you have to adapt and learn the ways of the "Wastes".
To be honest I expected a bit more of the game, especially of the story. The game isn't that long until you see the credits rolling, but it was fun the whole time. While I'm not a big fan of the old shooter mechanics (in my opinion a headshot should kill someone, doesn't matter what bullet hits) so at the middle of the game I was already down on the easiest setting (I started on the hardest).
I also felt that in the later missions many weapons and ammunition types were pretty much useless and more often I was using maybe one or two weapons. Although it does feature a lot of weapons they aren't really needed further in the game (especially the last mission is beatable with only one specific weapon only).Read more ›

My favourite game of 2011. The shooting feels so good, the world looks fantastic and the driving is nice. I really love the open world structure they use.Published 13 months ago by Joost van Dongen
