Book Description

Under the onslaught of supernatural evil, the acts of good people can seem insignificant, but a courageous few stand apart. These brave men and women stand up to the darkness, stare it right in the eye, and give it the finger. These are the stories of those who rage against the night, stories of triumph, sacrifice, and bravery in the face of overwhelming evil.

Rage Against the Night features the megastars of dark fantasy and horror—including Stephen King, Ramsey Campbell, Peter Straub, Chelsea Quinn Yarbro, F. Paul Wilson, Jonathan Maberry, Scott Nicholson, Nancy Holder, Sarah Langan, and many, many more.

All proceeds will be donated to Rocky Wood, author and President of the Horror Writers Association, who is battling motor neurone disease.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good stories, bad typos 25 Jun. 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
A nice collection of imaginative we'll written stories with proceeds going to a good cause. Only worth three stars because of so many typos some so egregious that they cause you to stop, re-read the paragraph to ascertain its meaning. Furthermore it gives the impression that you may be treated to an unread Stephen King, that's not the case, it has appeared elsewhere.

All proceeds for this e-book go to a good cause, motor neurone disease, a disease which claimed the life of someone close and massively affected our family. That gives me two really good reasons to recommend the download. Firstly, you're giving to a good cause. Secondly, you're paying very little for a quality anthology of short horror stories by some of the best horror writers in the business - Stephen King, Peter Straub and Ramsey Campbell for instance.

The Gunner's Love Song - Joe McKinney, Keeping Watch - Nate Kenyon, Like Part of the Family - Jonathan Maberry,
The Edge of Seventeen - Alexandra Sokoloff, The View from the Top - Bev Vincent,
Afterward There Will Be a Hallway - Gary A. Braunbeck, Following Marla - John R. Little, Magic Numbers - Gene O'Neill,
Tail the Barney - Stephen M. Irwin, The Nightmare Dimension - David Conyers, Roadside Memorials - Joseph Nassise,
Dat Tay Vao - F. Paul Wilson, Constitution - Scott Nicholson, Mr. Aickman's Air Rifle - Peter Straub,
Agatha's Ghost - Ramsey Campbell, Blue Heeler - Weston Ochse, Sarah's Visions - Chelsea Quinn Yarbro,
More Than Words - David Niall Wilson, Chillers - Lisa Morton, Changed - Nancy Holder, Dead Air - Gary Kemble,
Two Fish to Feed the Masses - Daniel G. Keohane, Fenstad's End - Sarah Langan,
Fair Extension - Stephen King Rocky Wood, Skeleton Killer - Jeff Strand.

That's quite a complilation and there's bound to be something here to suit your own particular tastes. Look out for 'Afterwards There Will Be A Hallway' by Gary A. Braunbeck as a special treat. One of the best short stories I've read for a very long time and with a subtle eeriness that lingers for a long time.

4.0 out of 5 stars Some good stories 27 Nov. 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I gave it 4 stars because of all the proceeds going to a very good cause. And I admire people who came up with the idea.

This is a collection of stories, and some of them are good, but to me, very few are very good. Zombies on a plane, humankind dying out in epidemic, strange creatures coming with frost and killing, strange creatures coming from TV and killing ...You've got it.

Some stories were so boring I had difficulty registering what they were about.

A couple stories really stood out. Stephen King's (which I have read before) and the one about three skeletons on a mission (which I haven't). Another one called Blue Heeler almost reduced me to tears. These three are the stars of the show. The monster in the lake wasn't bad either. Wearwolf surprising vampires in the fight was pretty good too, despite you could guess the plot pretty early on.

I am sure others will find more stories to their taste, it all depends on what you like.

A few interesting tales. Not much to make you think, I must check out more by this author except the entries by King & Straub, predictably! It's just OK but you can probably find better compilations to spend your hard earned on.

Some of these stories I found brilliant not too long and got straight to the point I was told I wouldn't enjoy this book but I really did. Really good read and found I couldn't put it down

Started well, but rapidly fell into the country of poor stories just to fill a book, would not be keen to buy anything compiled by this guy again
