I've read quite a few radiohead books in my time and although this doesn't cover the kid a/amnesiac era this is by the best book out there. More detailed than most and you definitely get a sense of the rh member's personalities whilst reading this and plus even though I'd consider myself quite a hardcore fan I still learnt a great deal from this book. So my advice if your looking for a rh book is to buy buy buy

2.0 out of 5 stars mostly same old same... 2 Dec 2000
Best part is the discography..and its far from complete... Its "OK" for the 'head newbie i suppose, but offers little for the aficionado.

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent, informative book 12 Jan 2000

This is an exetremely comprehensive review of radioheads career to date. As you would expect it is full of quotes and band trivia. Hale has obviously done his homework. It is even-handed in its accounts of band members, not focusing on thom too much. A very interesting book, although with no sign of humour or wit. The discgraphy section at the end is superb, with descriptions of every single radiohead song and collaberation. This is amust-read for all fans.

This book is an excellent catalogue of the way that Radiohead work, and the history behind the songs that all Raidohead fans love. Unfortunately, apart from the quotes poached from magazine articles and pictures - the avid Radiohead fan already knows most of this book.

Also, Thom and Jonny get far too much focus - and Colin, Phil and especially Ed receive very little coverage at all.

And lastly - Street Spirit - taxing arpeggio? - for a guitarist who's played more than a month? I personally don't agree despite loving the song.

As a genuine fan I opened this book holding the cynical belief that I would find nothing I hadn't read before. I couldn't have been more wrong. This boy has done his homework and it shows. The book works chronologically through their career and pre-career, covering all 3 albums and beyond. At the back there is a discography as well as a list of influences, songs of theirs that have been covered and songs they covered. The photos are excellent and really, if you are a devout follower, you shouldn't be without it. I did find that there were certain bits I had heard before but really all in all it's amazing how much they have squeezed in. If you want to know what the names of the iguana and the plastic crocodile on the inside cover of pablo honey are then you had better get this.

1.0 out of 5 stars Extremely disappointing 29 April 1999

I bought this book thinking I would learn more about the personalities behind "Radiohead". However, it is mearly just a catalogue of their career to date, with lots of quotes thrown in from Thom Yorke which we have all heard a dozen times before; the other band members hardly get a look-in. Nothing new. Boring. Don't bother wasting your money.
