"Radio Scrapbook" is drawn mainly from pre-war broadcasts, and includes recordings made for commercial radio stations, with sponsors as diverse as Saunders Paint, Ovaltine, Persil, de Reszke cigarettes, and Diploma Cheese. These recordings are extremely rare in their original form, and it's inevitable that some betray their acetate origins. Several have been reissued before, but many have not, and it makes good sense to gather them together. It's a pity that no attempt has been made to date the broadcasts, which should have been possible and would have enhanced the presentation. The latter part of the second CD overlaps chronologically with the ENSA set but there's no duplication. This is a welcome addition to the far from extensive catalogue of early broadcasts, and should appeal to radio and dance band enthusiasts alike.
