Product Description

Review

'It's a brilliant book... A paragraph from Keillor has more sparks than the average author manages in an entire novel... In short, Radio Romance confirms Keillor's place as the funniest fiction writer in America.' Time Out; 'After a few pages, you may easily be reduced to a state of contented giggling, which forces you to walk around smiling inanely at people.' Independent

Product Description

Set in the period just before television became America's primary source of mass-entertainent, Radio Romance is the wonderfully comic and touching story of WLT, the extraordinary 'Friendly Neighbor' radio station.

witty masterpiece 18 July 2007
Format:Paperback
Whenever I want to cheer myself up I need only pick up my copy of Radio Romance and reread some of the many witty passages featured in this book. I consider the purchase of this book the best money I ever spent.

Great offering 21 Jan 2003
By Misha The Penguin VINE™ VOICE
Format:Paperback
This is one of my favourite Garrison Keillor books - it is amusing but also dark and tries to bring the romance of early radio to the page. If you are looking for a gentle comedy (which a lot of his writing is) you may be disappointed, however this book shows off his strength as a writer and remains one of my favourite books.

Format:Paperback
Like most of Keillor's work, this book slips down like a warm waffle with maple syrup. The tone is folksy and nostalgic, which may put a some people off (particularly in the UK), but if you can accept that, you're in for an enjoyable, easy read with a lot of big laughs.

Particularly recommended for anyone who's ever worked in radio - the story is set in the 1930s, but you'll still recognise a lot of what's going on.
