Aaron goes back to his broadway roots for this solo concert, anyone afraid that we were loosing him to LA TV land should listen to this album and discover his true passion for the theatre. Recorded live with dialogue between the songs this is a fantastic experience, I only wish he'd repeat it in London

The Greatest CD of the Decade 6 Sep 2013
By Becky Ann - Published on
Aaron Tveit is one of my favorite performers of all time. I've also watched him in Wicked, Next to Normal (which he preforms two songs from on this album) and as well as Les Miserables. I've fallen in love with this triple threat and so when I heard he was coming out with his own CD from his concert that, due to living in Texas, I didn't get to go to, I immediately pre-ordered it and I am not the least bit disappointed. All of the songs he preforms are amazing, and when he preforms them he adds something, special, to it. He puts his all into these songs and his silky, honey voice is one you can listen to for hours at a time and never feel strained. He sings Taylor Swift's "We are never ever getting back together" and he makes it quite a treat to listen to. Aaron is one of those rare breeds of actors you come across once in a generation, and will, I have no doubts, get an Oscar, a Tony, and an Emmy. He'll also get a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. He's that talented. This is the best purchase I've made this year and I will recommend it to all my friends and family. Everyone I show Aaron to becomes a fan, so give him a chance in buying this CD. I promise you won't regret it.

I'm thrilled that he has shared this album (do we still call them albums?) with us; it left me starry-eyed and transported. Aaron's voice is so pure. I sincerely hope there is more to come from him. I'd like to describe him as talented, but that word is nowhere near sufficient for his abilities. Buy this music as fast as you can.

Never heard of this guy? This is Aaron. He sings like an angel. He acts like an Oscar nominee. He dances like Fred Astaire. He has the sweet humility of Tom Hiddleston, the hair of an Abercrombie model on uppers, and the jawline of a Greek god. He's one of two leads on a major network TV show (Graceland), he was that glistening hunk of rebellion you noticed in 2012's Oscar-winning Les Misérables, and he's guest-starred on so many TV shows that you've probably seen him at least twice before you knew who you were looking at. Oh, and he's basically the Crown Prince/Prodigal Son of Broadway.

Either buy this, or I'm like 78 percent sure you'll bring dishonor on your family for like 40 years or something.

I can't stop listening to this wonderful LIVE album of Aaron Tveit. First heard him in Next to Normal (which I also can't stop listening to.) He just does an exquisite performance of each song. I love the selections of show tunes, standards, pop tunes - he just puts so much into each one!!

I HIGHLY recommend this album!!

Captivating. The only thing better? To have been there live. 12 Oct 2013

Aaron Tveit is simply an immense young talent. For anyone who's an Aaron Tveit fan, for those who have seen his memorable performances in Les Mis the movie or in Graceland on USA network, or if you just enjoy musical theatre, this live-concert album is for you. His beautiful tenor voice is simply lovely, and the musical versatility and creativity he shows with this artful selection of songs -- from Broadway to pop, American standards to country - is impressive. With a youthful optimism and unassuming manner, Aaron's maturity at the tender age of 29 is a breath of fresh air.
Some songs you will know, and unless you were lucky enough to catch all his Broadway performances, you will enjoy being exposed to some terrific new music as well. He kicks off the evening with the energetic "I'm Alive" from the Broadway show Next to Normal and then jumping into "Something's Coming" from West Side Story. Crooning classics like "If I Loved You" from Carousel really showcases the quality of his impressive tenor voice. His delightful and delicate delivery of the little known "What You'd Call A Dream" captures America's love affair with its favorite pastime, to the point where you can almost feel the sun on your face and hear the crack of the bat and roar of the crowd.
Going on to belt out fan favorite "One Song Glory" from Rent, you feel the raw emotion of Roger's desperate plea for one moment of fame before it's too late. Showing his versatility, Aaron perfectly delivers a soulful rendition of the jazzy and dissonant "Hero and Leander" while getting a little bit country with the heartfelt "To Make You Feel My Love" and "A Case of You."
Perhaps the most memorable and entertaining cut is a hilarious send-up of Taylor Swift's "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together," in which Aaron taps his inner teenage girl to the delighted squeals from his audience. This may have been as much a visual comedic performance for the audience, evident in the YouTube version in which you can hear their peals of laughter.
On a couple of other pop songs, which could have been mostly forgettable, Aaron makes them somehow even more appealing than the originals, although you're left not sure exactly how he did that. Outshining Billy Joel (who is admittedly really more a composer than a singer) in a unique arrangement of "She's Always A Woman" doesn't seem too surprising, but Aaron's vocals even improve the appeal of the simple pop ditty "When I Was Your Man."
Another highlight is the plaintively pleading "Run Away With Me," beckoning the only possible answer: yes, yes, and yes.
Even the light-hearted commentary, taking us along on Aaron's short journey from high school musicals to the Broadway stage, is engaging and sometimes touching. His sentiment about reaching for the things you really want from your life is deeper than you would expect from someone of his age.
This entertaining and engaging album will rise to the top of your playlist. Once you come to appreciate Aaron Tveit's many diverse talents, his charming personality and down-to-earth quality that really doesn't seem put-on, it's easy to see how his appeal spans generations.
