5.0 out of 5 stars Best album in the world, bar none. 15 Sep 2006
Format:Audio CD
This man shaped my youth with his lyrics, and his melodies can still get the hairs standing on the back of my neck after 20 years. The first live concert I ever went to was this guy in 1987 at Newcastle City Hall on the Musicola tour, and I have seen some of the biggest and most talented acts in the world since, and many smaller talented ones too. Kershaw is still my number one. If I ever get a time machine, that's where I'm going to first!!

However, to get back to this album, everyone should listen to it at least once. Everyone should own it. But I quite like the fact that it is a hidden gem that not many people have the privelege of knowing. Everyone has an album which shaped their youth - and hence their life, their values and their morality. This is mine.

You'll probably never read this, but thanks for everything Nik. You are a true star, and although I love almost everything you have done, for me this is your finest work. Peace. LABATYD.

5.0 out of 5 stars A classic - wonderful artistry and superb sound 16 May 2005
Format:Audio CD
Frequently quoted in 'Best Album' lists, this disk has a vitality and presence that makes it stand out in any collection. The sound quality (even after 20 years of so-called 'development') is still viewed as demonstation standard, with a depth and clarity that ensures its place in any 'classic' lineup. An absolute 'must have' and an outstanding contribution to 80's pop.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sheer musical Genius 18 Feb 2006
Format:Audio CD
It saddens and angers me that Nik Kershaw has never received the credit he so deserves. Radio Musicola was released in 1986 at what should have been the height of his career, after his incredible performance at Live Aid a year earlier and the mainstream sucsess of both Human Racing and the Riddle, Nik was on a roll musically. Radio Musicola saw Nik growing up as an artist, with the first single Nobody Knows having just tickled the top 40 and the album selling well at first but then fading it was clear Nik had outgrown himself, outgrown the teen idol that had ensured major sucsess in 1984 and 1985, I guess the music buying public just didn't get it!!
Without doubt this album is an absolute must for any aspiring songwriter, guitarist and music lovers in general, there is not a dull moment on Radio Musicola from the heart rending Life Goes On to the guitar virtuosity on What the papers say to the absolute sublime by the way of L.A.B.A.T.Y.D.
One day this man will be recognised as an icon for musicality and will be prepelled to where he belongs.
Buy this album, play it, love it and be proud that you know something the world has yet to wake up to.

5.0 out of 5 stars An absolute must have 9 Jun 2014
Format:Audio CD
This album is an amazing piece of work which deserved much more commercial success. Radio Musicola, L.A.B.A.T.Y.D., Life Goes On, James Cagney and Violet To Blue are the real highlights. You can put them on repeat play and never get tired of listening to them. Wonderful chord changes throughout. Nik is a songwriting and instrumental genius. It would be great if the record company could re-master this album as they did with Human Racing and The Riddle.
