An excellent introduction to a fascinating small scale hobby and sport. This is proper sailing in miniature and it is rumored that many olympic skippers also enjoy r/c sailing. The sixteen chapters and 110 pages cover choosing a boat, sailing theory, construction methods (if you plan to build your own), materials, design, rigging, sails, radio equipment, going racing and more besides.
Well written, comprehensive and engaging.

All aspects of making models , either from wood or modern materials, sailmaking, tactics are extensively described which is particularly interesting for novices in the field .Honestly I had expected more attention to aspects of RC, like choice of rudder servos and sailwinches, batteries and wiring diagrams etc.

This book, starts with the basics, from what makes up an rc yacht, and its history, to the different classes available to sail.
It go on to offer instructions in manufacturing a One Meter class boat, as well as tuning it, and getting the most of your racing.

I'm from the world of R/C planes, didn't have a clue about R/C sailing but this book has opened my eyes. It will be mostly pleasure for me, relaxing by a lake, i was quite surprised by the amount of information about the building side in this book, this is my greatest pleasure. The racing side does look good and i have a club close to me, so you never know. I think this is a great book for a beginner covering everything you need to know.

I bought this book for my Dad at Christmas as he has just about completed building his own radio controlled yacht. My Dad has no experience of building and sailing any form of radio controlled boats. When he was reading this book he was constantly quoting parts about this and that about how to sail yachts... in my book this means this is a good book!
