Review There are several other reasons that make this double disc of 40 live tracks (covers and classics) good. Sadly, there are several more that make it bad. The glaring problem with the Live Lounge series is that its quirkiness doesn't transfer well on to record. Live on radio or, better still, on stage, Elliot Minor covering Take That's Rule The World has the power to wow. In your car, it simply makes the listener remark, 'Oh yes, that's clever'. In other words, you may find yourself spinning this compilation twice, maybe thrice, then becoming considerably 'over it'.
Thankfully, there are several exceptions to this rule, namely The Hoosiers' stunning delivery of Justin Timberlake's Lovestoned- breathtaking, live or otherwise. Meanwhile Girls Aloud step up their game and defy the most miserable critique with their brilliant rendition of Robyn's With Every Heartbeat and the Pigeon Detectives make Hot Chip's Ready For The Floor totally their own. The real red herring, however, is Goldfrapp's cover of It's Not Over Yet by Grace. Who'd have thought even the classiest act could make this cheese sound so good.
Of the smaller minority of original material (performed and recorded live), Duffy's Mercy, Kasabian's LSF and Ne-Yo's Closer gleam.
A highly enjoyable compilation, if only for a couple of listens. --Elle J Small

another winner from jo whiley!,
This review is from: Radio 1's Live Lounge - Volume 3 (Audio CD)
i got a promo of this album to review and it's every bit as good as the previous two. maybe a bit better than the last one. the ting tings track is a highlight, as is pendulum, and dizzee rascal. there's an old gem on there from athlete - a beautiful version of 'wires'. all the big acts from this year are present - duffy, adele, elbow, glasvegas, the script (covering eminem's 'lose yourself') and scouting for girls.
get it, and you won't regret it...

As always, the live lounge is a mixture of artists doing covers and their own songs. The best tracks on this year's cds are Dizzee Rascal doing the Ting Tings 'thats not my name' and the Script doing 'lose yourself'. Scouting for Girls kill their own song, and some covers are too close to the original song to really warrant doing it, if you know what i mean, but most tracks are great, and a select few are amazingly good. get this album.

Fantastic,
This review is from: Radio 1's Live Lounge - Volume 3 (Audio CD)
Live Lounge is great. Definitely worth the money (especially with the Amazon price and free delivery).
Volume 3 is one of the better ones, the combination of more acoustic tracks and covers is superb (I own the first 5 and will be buying the 6th). It also gives you the chance to hear lots of artists and see which you might want to hear more of.Added in that it is a double CD and its a no brainer.
