Product Description

Product Description

Radflek is the most efficient radiator reflector recommended under the UK’s Energy Saving Trust Recommended Product scheme and is revolutionary in its ease of installation. Radflek is one of the easiest and most cost effective methods of energy saving in the home - at least 23% more efficient than louvered or saw toothed radiator reflector panels and quicker and easier to install. Radflek reflects back into the room 95% of the energy radiated from the back of the radiator and cuts heat loss through the wall and into the outside world by 45%. This means that less energy is used to heat the room to the desired temperature, resulting in lower energy bills and a smaller carbon footprint. Radflek will typically pay for itself in under a year. Radflek is a laminated aluminium reflective membrane with a long lasting coating that prevents oxidation and preserves its high reflectivity for at least 60 years. This is unlike kitchen foil that tears easily and degrades very quickly. There is no need for removal of radiators, professional installers, or any sticking to the wall – Radflek is cut to size with normal kitchen scissors and just hangs from the wall brackets behind the radiator, so disappearing from view once installed. Installation is quick and simple, only taking minutes. Radflek is also the most efficient radiator reflector approved by Ofgem (The UK’s energy industry regulator) for its Carbon Emissions Reduction Target scheme (CERT). A sheet of Radflek will save an average of 8.9 kg CO2 and up to 83 kWh of energy per year. Each sheet of Radflek is 120cm x 60cm and sufficient for 2 typical sized radiators each measuring 60cm between the wall brackets. Pack sizes act as a guide only and are on the basis of such a typical radiator. All packs contain Radflek sheets, clips and instructions - everything required for a standard installation of Radflek (behind a typical wall mounted radiator). Where the distance between the radiator wall brackets is greater than 120cm, Radstik reflective adhesive tape can be used to increase the size of a Radflek sheet. Radstik can also be used to combine off cuts. For floor mounted or where brackets are far from the top and/or the edge of the radiator, we recommend alternative installation methods set out in the 'easy fitting' section of www.radflek.com You should measure your radiators prior to purchase to ensure you buy the correct pack size.

Box Contains

  • 5 x 120cm by 60cm sheets of Radflek
  • 20 installation clips
  • Instruction sheet

I did a little research and read plenty of reviews on here before purchasing this item, I was amazed at how daft some of the reviews were and just how crazy some people's expectations are.

I purchased the 10 radiator pack (5 Sheets) and this was enough to cover 4 decent sized radiators in my flat with one whole Radflek sheet to spare. The key point here is to always buy a larger pack than you think you will need, check the sheet size against the size of your radiators. Unless you have really small radiators, there is no way this 10 radiator pack will cover 10 radiators!

I purchased this item from Radflek themselves, via Amazon of course! Delivery was super fast and the item fits through a standard letter box which was handy.

Lets get a few things straight:

    1. It will NOT dramatically reduce your gas/electricity bill.
    2. It will NOT magically turn your already cold house into the tropics.
    3. It WILL reduce your gas/electricity bill just enough to validate your relatively inexpensive purchase.
    4. It WILL help warm your house up quicker.
    5. It WILL keep your radiators at temperature for longer, therefore reducing the work your boiler has to do.

    Installation:

Some people have said that because the sheets are folded, the folds are hard to get out. Nonsense! Place the sheet on a soft surface and run your finger over the folds, turn the sheet over and repeat, job done! One reviewer here has thought about ironing the sheet to get it flat and another has considered an industrial pressing machine, you cannot be serious!

There are 2 ways you can install the radiator reflectors depending on your preference between cosmetic appearance or maximum radiator coverage.

went to a diy store and landed up with some foam stuff that needed to be stuck onto the wall. it obviously wasnt going to work so looked it up online and reviews said radflek worked. It does! The difference was so amazing, cant think what I was doing heating up my neighbors house. Now my house is warm for a change and all we had to do was cut the foil with scissors and fit on the brackets. Super easy.

I ordered this product without a lot of conviction. In the past I have fitted heat relectors made of foam covered in a foil and not noticed any difference. Radflek does what it says, within a couple of days I had turned out heating thermostat down a degree and the boiler was working a lot less. The House was much warmer. I would honestly recomend this product to anyone.

It's easy to install providing your radiators have the mounting brackets near the top; we have radiators ranging from the 1970s to 2 years old - it requires a little more ingenuity (or hooks) to fit behind older radiators.

Bought these last week and fitted them yesterday.
Even though we have snow on the ground we had to turn the radiators down to low within minutes of fitting them.
They are really throwing out heat now.
Great product and worth buying for the cold snap ahead.
Simple, quick & easy to fit, and work straight away.
Very money/energy saving for such a little effort.
I would reccommend anyone with radiators to buy them now!

Reflector panels were easy to cut to size and to fit, though fitting on long radiators was not very sturdy due to supports being short. Product would benefit from longer supports which could be cut to length.

Ordered Saturday received item Wednesday morning. I had read the reviews which suggested going for larger pack and am glad I did, although I only have 5 Radiators 2 of which are only 2 ft long this pack for 10 radiators was just enough. You get 5 sheets and 20 clips so for the remaning 3 larger radiators I was able to use some of the extra clips for greater rigidity.

One reviewer said to use cardboard to help -- Many Thanks for that tip. So I clipped the radflex onto the cardboard which sits across the brackets and the radflex now covers the whole of the back of the radiator, rather than just the bit inbetween the brackets.

I haven't had the heating on yet hence the 4 stars as I cannot confirm the effectiveness but as 4 of my radiators are on external walls, I hope not to be heating the street as much and that it will keep my bills down.

UPDATE 27th oct 2011 - Heating now on for the last week and the panels do work, the heat is reflected back into the room and my boiler isn't working so hard to keep the rooms warm. I have now altered my rating to 5 stars and am so glad I brought this pack.

I was originally sceptical about this product but having installed it as instructed I can honestly say that you do notice a difference in the room and if you place your hand above the radiator it does feel warmer than before.

I agree with previous comments regarding sizing, unless you have very small radiators you will not be able to use this pack for 10, more like 5.

It is very quick and easy to fit, even behind a radiator that sits close to the wall, there is no way I could have fitted foil that had to be pasted to the wall behind this one without removing it.

As far as I can see the only downside is that the amount of area covered is smaller than the overall size of the radiator, ie it only fits between your existing brackets and sits on top of them, so the areas to the left and right of the brackets and the area above them is not covered, I did try cutting small pieces for these areas but it did not work very well, I may consider pasting these pieces to the wall in these areas.

Overall does what it says, is easy to fit and is clearly better than having nothing behind the radiator
