Product Description

Radflek can pay for itself in about a year

Hallway Cutaway
  • Radflek is a radiator reflector designed for ease of installation by consumers.
  • Radflek reduces your heating bill by reflecting wasted energy back into your room rather than heating up the wall and the street outside
  • Less energy used means a smaller carbon footprint
  • Radflek is one of the easiest and most cost effective methods of energy saving in the home - at least 23% more efficient than louvered or saw toothed radiator reflector panels
  • Radflek maintains its reflectivity for years, whilst kitchen foil degrades very quickly
  • Radflek radiator reflectors are quicker & easier to install than standard radiator panels - anyone really can do it and it only takes minutes
  • Once installed, nobody will know Radflek is there

What is Radflek?

Foil behind Rad

Radflek is a revolutionary energy saving radiator reflector that reflects 95% of the wasted heat energy radiated from the rear of a radiator back into your room

Radflek is a laminated aluminium foil with a long lasting coating that prevents oxidation and preserves its high reflectivity. With Radflek, less energy is needed to heat the room to your desired temperature and so your energy bills will be less. Radflek is at least 23% more efficient than any louvered or saw toothed radiator reflector panels and will typically pay for itself in about a year

No need for removal of radiators, professional installers, or any sticking to the wall - Radflek just hangs from the wall brackets behind the radiator and disappears from view once installed. Installation is quick and simple, only taking minutes- anyone can do it!

How does it work?

InfraRed Windows & Doors

Both windows have radiators on the wall below them. The right-hand window's radiator is fitted with Radflek, which has reduced heat loss through the wall by 45%. This can be seen by the more muted colour below that window compared with below the left-hand window.

Verified Performance

Certification Mark
  • Tested by the British Board of Agrément (BBA) and energy savings verified by the Building Research Establishment (BRE)
  • Approved by Ofgem for use in the Carbon Emissions Reduction Target scheme (CERT)
  • Granted Energy Saving Trust Recommended Product status

It takes no energy to save energy!

  • Radflek only takes minutes to fit
  • No sticking to the wall
  • No radiator removal
  • No DIY know-how needed
  • No major maintenance required - just occasional dusting to maintain best reflectivity
  • Radflek is designed to hang between the brackets of standard wall mounted radiators, so that there is a small air gap either side of the Radflek sheet
  • More detailed instructions are included in the pack

Don't heat the street

Tests carried out by the BBA and reported on by the BRE, show that Radflek reduces heat transfer through walls by 45%, is the most efficient radiator reflector on the market, and is 23% more efficient at saving energy and reducing CO2 emissions than any louvered or saw toothed radiator reflector panel

Carbon and energy savings will depend on fuel type, wall type and how often the heating is switched on. With a solid uninsulated wall using a normal heating cycle, an 8 sheet pack of Radflek will annually save:

Infra Red House
  • Up to 166.2 kg CO2 and up to 666.6 kWh
  • Up to £40 (using Energy saving Trust fuel price assumptions)

Radflek is 23% more efficient than louvered or saw-toothed radiator reflector panels

Having just turned the heating on this year this is a going to be a bit of a tricky review as it's a little too early to judge the effectiveness of these just yet.

However, what I can tell you is that they are easy to install and I got a lot more of them than I was expecting. You get enough reflectors for 5 radiators in all and all you need is a pair of scissors to fit them and then you're away.

You simply measure the space between each of your radiator's wall-mountings and then cut each piece of foil to the right width. There is a grid pattern on the back of each piece of foil which makes this task easy too.

Next, you're provided with a load of plastic 'clips' (for want of a better word) which, essentially, are the sort of thing you buy from W H Smiths to slide over a bundle of pages in order bind them into a booklet. You know, this sort of thing.

You fold the top of the foil over once, slip on a few of these clips to add some rigidity, and then hang them in place. A few more folds gets the drop behind the radiator right and then you're done. A certain insurance selling meerkat might call the whole process simples.

As for their effectiveness, I think I notice more heat coming of the radiators this year but I really can't be sure. Still for the money I'm pretty happy and my step dad, who builds houses so knows about this sort of thing, says they're actually pretty good (although he was speaking about reflectors generally and not about this specific brand).

Overall, I'm happy but I don't know how it will affect my bills. The company seem reputable too as they include a feedback survey in the package too, so they obviously care about their product and what their customers think... this has to be commended.

    Oh so easy to fit.
Why not do this years ago.
Rests on radiator brackets but if you easily bend a metal coat hanger to raise and support the foil you can reflect back the upper part of the back of the radiator as usually the supports are a third of the way down the back of the rad.

5.0 out of 5 stars Does the trick 19 Nov 2013

I bought these for my Mum to replace the kitchen foil she was using. Initially she though it was a complete waste of money and wouldn't be an improvement over Lidl's finest silver foil, but a few weeks in she was convinced. To convince a true pessimist they must be good, so I have no hesitation in handing out 5 starts!

5.0 out of 5 stars Very easy to install....... 4 Jan 2013

You get good value in the pack and I was able to do my flat and pass spare sheets on to my son.

You will need a tape measure, a pair of scissors and 10 minutes maximum per radiator. Of course you will have already checked before ordering that these will work with your type of radiator. They cannot be fitted to storage ones.

Fitting is just a matter of following very simple instructions and only one person is needed.

The quality of the foil sheets is very good, thick enough to hang nicely. Remember to put the correct side to the wall though, the sheets are marked.

Energy saving? No idea yet, too early to say but I will update the review when I have more idea. Hopefully I will get some feedback from my son who lives in the Arctic wasteland of Edinburgh.

UPDATE: On very cold nights I have noticed that my front room is about 1 to 1.5C warmer than before I installed the sheets. Of course it is difficult to be exact because there are other factors to consider but overall I would say they have helped.

3.0 out of 5 stars not thought out 25 Jan 2014
    Verified Purchase
Bought 5 pack and needed extra 3 pack because there are 5 not thought out size sheets, when a roll to cut my own sizes would have been much better. Also there would be no permanent creases to try and overcome. Trying to use cut sheets would have had a patchwork quilt effect because I have a mixture of old and new radiators with brackets of different positions. The sheets were not deep enough for older ones. Hanging between brackets as suggested leaves space on the top and side not treated wasting heat.
With using considerable time I have managed to cover every cm. of radiators, which was not easy because of the size of three older radiators. Why are the shiny sides of the sheets to the wall instead of reflecting to the radiators?
I can feel heat being reflected more, doing the job well.
The sheets are wasteful: a roll instead would save a lot of work joining bits together.
The depth needs to be about 5 cms. more for those not under windows.
Cut out the bracket areas on the sheets and cover the whole size of the radiators.
Because the sheets are folded, it is impossible to get the creases out.

Sent this back for a refund the way its packaged means the product is not flat so how you would fit this down the back of a radiator is beyond me, tried flattening them out by putting something heavy across it bu doesn't work, rubbish

3.0 out of 5 stars Reflector fixings do not fit every radiator 18 Jan 2014
    Verified Purchase
The reflectors do not suit every radiator. The very old radiators (like mine) do not have wall bracket fixings at the top. Therefore, the reflectors had to be adjusted to suit the condition. The sellers did not explain this on their web page details.
