Product Description

Racing Through Time is an exceptional series entailing the sensational beginnings of a much-loved global sport. From the grease and glamour, to the danger and thrills, this is an action packed, fact filled tour of the world of motor racing, featuring in depth stories on the legends of motor racing, the high-performance machines, the men behind the wheel, and the circuits that have made history. The Nurburgring: Tucked away in the Eiffel Mountains in Western Germany is a racing circuit that is longer, more dramatic and more difficult to master than any other racing circuit in the world. Not known for a particular race, unlike Le Mans, Indianapolis or Monaco, the Nurburgring is famous simply because it is the most challenging circuit ever built! Silverstone: Silverstone is not set in majestic parklands or near an exotic beach; it is a windy former airfield in the midlands of England. Yet, it is the very heartland of motor racing and is the central point for most of the teams in Grand Prix Racing. Silverstone has always been renowned for its high speeds and is regarded by many as THE track to do well at. Indeed, if you win at Silverstone the world sits up and takes notice. Monaco: The Monaco Grand Prix is the most famous race of them all and always provides the driver a tough race around the extremely tight circuit. Now the only round the houses circuit left on the Formula One calendar, Racing Through Time: Great Circuits charts all the action from the tracks illustrious past: From its origins way back in 1929 to the glitz and glamour it is famed for today.

I've found this DVD a useful and resourceful product within a very limited historical context. The facts are insightful but lacking in depth into what made these circuits as revered as they are today besides a few classic races any new fan after 1980 can relate to today. If you're not a but simply interested in learning something new, all you'll get is a lot of historical facts about Nazi race drivers and classic race cars that have little to do with modern day F1. The DVD has very few moments designed to engage a novice into the world of motor sports. If you're an enthusiast, which I believe is the target audience of this DVD, you'll be still left wanting more facts about the circuits and less narratives about post war race drivers.
