Brilliant little book packed with nostalgia from the Golden years of early motor racing and many useful tips on how to approach bends, braking etc...
'perfect toilet reading material' This book also features diagrams of old motor racing circuits. Great stuff, recommend it. Pictures and diagrams mainly black and white drawings. The book covers early racing at Brooklands, motoring sportsman and women, cars and marques.

At last, an accessible and enjoyable book that charts the early years of motor racing. This book is informative and factual, but written with such enthusiasm that it's a real page turner. I particularly liked the section on Do's and Don'ts for drving a racing car and the mini-biogs of the early racing cars. The author must spend all his time thinking about cars, to have put together such a well researched little gem of a pocket book.

I bought this for my racing mad brother. It's a really good little book and has loads of information - a must for anyone who likes racing cars/drivers.

Very good book, well written, interesting, amusing and evocative of the periods covered. Many things still apply to motor racing today!

I bought this as a present and both I and the recipient got a lot of pleasure from it . It is a compilation of articles from magazines, the only slight disappointment was that the account of Stirling Moss' Miglia Milia was not the report by Dennis Jenkinson from Motor Sport, Still the vivid accounts of other races and the "how to do it" articles more than made up for this . . An excellent buy.

128 pages of contemporary motoring racing articles written between 1906 and the mid 50's, including a large chunk of Paul Frere's 1963 book Driving a racing car. By it's conception all the information in the book is out of date, in the circuits section, half them are no longer used, and of the half that still are, most have been modified. But that is the point of the book, not a comprehensive history, but a series of snapshots, to give the reader a taste of the foundations of modern motor racing, well the small amount I paid for it.

Not really what I expected - a bit basic, aimed at schoolboy level?

Bought as a present so haven't been able to review in detail; seems a very well presented article. Would have liked to have read it myself.
