Well-observed and intriguing,

I like David Hare. He's quite sharp on British institutions and the characters that inhabit them. This is a good insight into the tensions within the Church of England. I kept reading till the end, engrossed in the characters and their preoccupations.

Church politics page-turner!,

Heard about this at a literature clsaa. An unlikely subject for drama perhaps but the play grabs the attention from the outset and maintains dramatic tension throughout. Can't wait to see it in performance and read more David Hare.

Racing Demon,
This review is from: Racing Demon (Paperback)
I studied this play at A Level. Racing Demon at many points comes across unambiguously as a vehicle for Hare's rabidly left-wing agenda. The church is made to seem as though it is run by amateurs and misfits who cannot understand people. It is clear Hare loathes Christianity and is not much impressed by its followers. Hare's demagogic approach reminded me of a left-wing version of Alf Garnett in full rant.
