Format:Audio CD
This is incredible. Even if you have all these pieces you should buy this set. The recording is crystal clear, the Russian sound of the music is perfectly realised, the atmosphere is exactly right. The soloists and choir in The Bells are all glorious - the bass is mind-blowing in particular, great power and depth, but very beautiful. Tne Isle of the Dead is indescribably chilling and euphoric. These Russian State S O players are superb, first class - listen to the strings! All the orchestra is A++++ - listen to the Symphonic Dances to hear each section beautifully. I love the way Valeri Polyansky always brings out the luscious melodies to the full but keeps the excitement there 100%. This is a definitive performance that is guaranteed to raise the hairs on your neck and give you goose flesh all over. It should be world famous.
