I own many Rachel Allen products as I like the retro blue which looks lovely in my kitchen.

Most of the electricals in this range are nothing special, but this breadmaker is superb!

You have a convection fan inside which allows the air to circulate and you get a lovely even finish on your loaves. I also like the fact that you can make different sized loaves (1.5lb and 2lb) which makes it good for smaller and larger families and our fresh bread never lasts longer than a day! Its just addictive!

You can adjust the type the of crust you like, you can have either a light, medium or dark which is very handy as I love crusty bread but my partner prefers a softer finish. You can make many types of bread in this machine and you get a selection of Rachel's recipes or you can just buy the bread mixes from the supermarket which is often much easier and saves time. I have also made jam in mine which is an added bonus.

This is a well made, easy to use breadmaker with many features you do not get on cheaper models. This is a great buy and I recommend it to everyone on the lookout for a breadmaker.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great breadmaker 18 Feb 2010
I got this as a replacement for the old Morphy Richards fastbake which I didn't find lasted very well in mechanical terms (Although to be fair it was in use every other day week in and out.) But this performs better and is lighter and smaller. I bake wholemeal loaves, and it turns them out perfectly. Just follow the instructions when you are unfamiliar with the machine. One thing which fooled me at first, it does not break into immediate mixing action on the wholemeal programme, it heats up a little at first. So don't think (as I did) that it's not working. I'd happily buy another. I got my current one from Argos when they were being discontinued and were on offer and have not regretted it. But Amazon seems to be the main supplier now as the original company distributing (?) them went out of business last year. Recommended for reliable home baking.

THIS MAKES EXCELLENT BREAD.YOU CAN ALTER THE RECIPES TO SUIT YOUR OWN TASTE.I RECOMMEND EXPERIMENTING TO GET THE BEST RESULT.A LARGE LOAF COSTS ABOUT 40p WHEN YOU TAKE THE COST OF INGRTREDIENTS AND ELECTRICITY.

4.0 out of 5 stars bready 28 April 2010

This is the 3rd and cheapest bread machine I've had. It's the best one so far despite this. The main advantage is the long loaf enabled by having 2 paddles. Most machines make ridiculously tall, difficult to slice loaves. It also makes pasta dough very well too. The lid is a bit flimsy. Delayed timer is very handy. Haven't been in enough of a hurry to use the fastbake facility yet, but when I need urgent bread I'm sure it'll be a godsend

5.0 out of 5 stars Rachel Allen RA-BM1 Fastbake Breadmaker 18 Feb 2010
Haven't stopped using this breadmaker since it arrived. Brilliant. After practice you learn not to have craters from the paddles and how to tease them out with less damage to your cake/loaf. Wonderful.

2.0 out of 5 stars Very disappointing 27 Mar 2010

I have had this machine for over seven months now and , although the bread is O.K., I have yet to make a loaf which is easy to extract from the pan and, when extracted, is left with two gaping holes in the bottom. Either the spindles remain in the machine surrounded by the bread or are stuck in the loaf and not easy to remove.
I emailed two photos of the problem to the manufacturers asking them if this was a common occurrence but, surprise, surprise, they obviously chose not to reply

Definitely not a recommended buy in my opinion.
