This seems to be the first extended appearance of Rab C. Nesbitt outside the short sketches he used to occupy on the sketch show "Naked Video".
It's not quite as smooth as the TV series became, but it's got all the wit and quietly intelligent social commentary that made Rab a household name across Britain. It's also got a great cast of Scottish comic actors.
I love it, but at about 45 minutes with no bonus material whatsoever, it felt a bit short for the price. It might have been more sensible to bundle this with a compilation of the Rab sketches from Naked Video, or with a documentary, or interviews, or anything.

Ive been a fan of Rab C Nesbitt since the days of naked video and owned this years ago when it first came out on VHS .
Every christmas season i drag this ole favorite out and play it and laugh at Rab and jamsie.
My wife cant understand a word of what is being said but shes An American so cant blame her there but nor can my British family LOL.
Ive never had a problem understanding Rab at all and own every episode apart from fitba and home.
I now own this on DVD thanks to the early box set and seasonal greet came with it.
This christmas special is probably the first actual real episode of Rab C Nesbitt in its own right as we see gregor fisher seems preaty young .
The only thing is Mary is pregnant in it but we never find out what happens to the baby its never mentioned again in the 1st series all the very end series so this just must of been a stand alone episode.
Also Doddie is played by a different actor but the rest of the gang remain consistant all except the late great wee Burney who passed away and who is not seen after the 3rd series.
They replaced burney with screech who i must say just didnt make the grade and really got on my nerves until he was replaced by Natalie and Bridie and her family which was a fantastic move it gave the show a whole new freshness not to mention the 1st loony brother (COCO,POPS).

One more thing when i used to by Rab on VHS he had a couple of live on stage episodes which i se still have not made it yet on to DVD.

Anyway great to own this again and to be able to drag this out for Christmas every year even though im the only one that can understand rab in my home LOL.
Takes me right back to the 90s again Ahh Nostalga.

AlsoI would love the BBC to release the tales of para handy on to dvd.

I think Rab's Seasonal Greet was his first full length appearance (41 minutes) on our screens in 1988 and £10 does seem pricey for this one episode when the first five series are available in a box set for £15 (30 episodes and 2 specials). Nevertheless "Seasonal Greet" remains one of the funniest of all the episodes and essential for fans. Indeed, if you only buy one "piece" of Rab this should probably be it !

Disgusted by Christmas, unemployed alcholic Rab C. Nesbitt (Gregor Fisher) sets out to annul it altogether in his house much to the displeasure of his wife Mary (Elaine C. Smith).
Things are made worse when he and his friends at the Two Ways (his local pub) make a pact to not be any part of it - behind his back his best friend Jamesie is actually working as a department store Santa.
Full of laughs, idiocy, and little moments of complete hypocrisy that's in all of us.
