The Sunday Telegraph is said to have called the Vita Audio R1 "the Aston Martin of DAB Radios." In my opinion it rather is the Mini Cooper of DAB radios.
Although I owned a Tivoli Audio Model DAB I have bought this radio and have kept it, while I sold the Tivoli. And I did this even though the Tivoli Model DAB is superior to this radio in almost every respect: the Tivoli has a superior sound, it looks better (at least in my opinion) and it has far (and I mean FAR) better FM reception. But unfortunately the display of the Tivoli is very bright, even when the radio is in standby mode, and this makes the Tivoli useless as a radio alarm clock in your bedroom. The R1 turns off the backlit display in standby mode and you can also set it up to turn off after a few seconds while you are using the radio. This is a great and important feature!
The R1 still has a pleasing sound and it is much cheaper than a Tivoli Model DAB. Some people find it hard to get used to the RotoDial, but I personally think that it is very easy to use.
My big complaint about the R1 is the FM reception. I have never owned a radio that had such a poor FM quality. As a FM radio this one is completely useless!
