This is the third in MaryJanice Davidson's series about the alternate version of history where Alaska is a separate country with its own royal family. In this story Nicole Krenski, a film script writer and hunting guide in the Alaskan wilderness, discovers after her mother's death that her father is King Alexander II of Alaska and she is therefore the heir to the throne, being the eldest child. Initially she's reluctant to become part of the royal family but soon finds herself part of the fun-loving and loud family. With bodyguard Jeffrey Rodinov at her side - and more - Nicole starts to discover what life as a royal is really like.
This is actually quite a short book with most chapters just a few pages long, another sub-romance (that of the King and his biographer) as part of the story, and little actual emphasis on the romance with Jeffrey. It's written as a romp with various side characters who appeared in previous books showing up in this one again. There's little depth to this story but it's fun for the most part.
