As well as being caustic with large dollops of vitriol, Roseanne is all about a family struggling to grow up yet grow together. With bags of neuroses displayed from open sores, each character is battling with his/her own problems: unemployment, money, puberty, childhood, sisterhood; all of these issues are dealt with in the framework of individual episodes built around a trivial, yet vital issue. John Goodman was always a great actor, whereas Roseanne was less actress than comedienne. In the Second series she is already progressing towards actress and the kids are learning how to deliver the amazing lines Roseanne writes. From a shaky start in Series 1, the picture and sound are improving. This Series is incredible value for money and if, like me, you are bringing up children, it can help you to deal with some issues in a tender, yet hilarious way.
