As well as being caustic with large dollops of vitriol, Roseanne is all about a family struggling to grow up yet grow together.With bags of neuroses displayed from open sores, each character is battling with his/her own problems: unemployment, money, puberty, childhood, sisterhood; all of these issues are dealt with in the framework of individual episodes built around a trivial, yet vital issue. John Goodman was always a great actor, whereas Roseanne was less actress than comedienne. In the Second series she is already progressing towards actress and the kids are learning how to deliver the amazing lines Roseanne writes.From a shaky start in Series 1, the picture and sound are improving. This Series is incredible value for money and if, like me, you are bringing up children, it can help you to deal with some issues in a tender, yet hilarious way.

What can I say about this?... I grew up watching Roseanne and find the down to earth antics and straight forward comedy timeless.... If your a Roseanne fan then you'll want to buy this!

Having always been a major Roseanne fan I freely admit that having watched it as a child it was a no brainer when it came to buying this series on DVD. Despite yelling a little too much for my liking the Connors represent a working class American family struggling with jobs, money and raising three kids. Hilarious, and poignant it manages sentiment without ever spilling into ghastly sentimentality. Roseanne's wise but sharp humour is as funny now as when I watched these episodes the first time around all those years ago and still has me in stitches despite watching this series numerous times. I feel by series two the cast had really got into their stride and characters and the episodes flow a lot smoother than the previous series. Brilliant series -having already brought series one through four I can't wait to get series five to nine!
