Product Description

Product Description

Ergonomic hybrid shell

ROCCAT's hottest new weapon / reloaded

With a 6000dpi Pro-Aim Laser Sensor and its integrated Tracking & Distance Control Unit (TDCU), the further development of the prize-winning ROCCAT Kone Gaming Mouse has unbelievably more power under the hood. Its maximum precision and ultimate tracking are beyond comparison.

The massive upgrade made to the driver and the introduction of the Easy-Shift[+] button has also turned the Kone[+] into a real customisable marvel at the same time. No other mouse offers as many configuration options as the ROCCAT Kone[+].

Maximum performance

Maximum performance

The revolutionary 6000dpi Pro-Aim Laser Sensor, in conjunction with its 10.5 megapixel resolution and 1000Hz polling rate, offers maximum precision, even transmitting lightning fast mouse movements with up to 30Gs of acceleration and with speeds of up to 200ips (5.08m/s) without loss or lag. Thanks to the Tracking & Distance Control Unit, which is now integrated in the laser sensor, the ROCCAT Kone[+] can also calculate the lift-off distance as well as fine-tune the sensor to suit the mousepad. The result: optimal tracking.

Ergonomic hybrid shell

The highly praised hybrid shell for right-handers, including the Soft-Touch Surface, have been retained, but really useful core improvements have been made that further increase the comfort of Kone's successor. The mouse wheel is completely new: distinctive notch positions are perfect for gaming, and the wider design makes it easier to control. The button above the mouse wheel has been made larger and you'll now find a nicely-sized toggle switch below the mouse wheel. The result: maximum gaming comfort.

4 LED multicolour light system

22 mouse functions

Thanks to the Easy-Shift[+] button, all the buttons - including the mouse wheel - can be assigned two functions such as macros or other functions. As a result, you now have 22 functions available at any one time instead of the usual 12.

4 LED multicolour light system

Like before, the light system remains unbeaten. Four multicolour LEDs, together with the enhanced lightpipes and configurable effects, can light up, alternate or pulsate in more than four different colours at the same time. It's a real eye-catcher on any desktop.

5 game profiles

You can configure your button assignments, including macros, DPI settings, the sensor sensitivity level and your lighting settings too, and save them to any one of 5 profiles on the 576kB of onboard memory. This allows you to customise your mouse to suit individual games. You can associate each profile with a particular application so the right button assignments, DPI and colour settings, etc., are automatically loaded when you start the game. When a profile is set as the Windows Profile, the ROCCAT Kone [+] will always switch to this profile when you return to Windows after leaving a game or app. Additional profiles can be saved on your hard drive whenever you want, and then loaded to any one of the 5 profile slots using the driver menu.

Customise the weight

Macro manager

Creating and editing your own command sequences is made easy thanks to the highly praised Macro Manager. Predefined macro presets for the top 20 PC games as well as several office apps make it even easier to customise the mouse - plus the new Loop Function now makes it possible to loop macros indefinitely.

Sound feedback

The famous ROCCAT voice gives immediate feedback when you change DPI settings, profiles, the volume level or sensitivity setting. As you don't need to look at an additional display on the screen or on the mouse itself, nothing will distract from the gameplay. It really is as easy at that.

Customise the weight

A weight system comprising 4 x 5g weights is included, allowing you to customise the weight in four stages to suit your preferences.

1.0 out of 5 stars A disgustingly poorly built device 22 April 2012
Put simply, I warn you not to buy this product.
The software is excellent, the mouse idea is excellent, but the built quality is disgraceful. Firstly the scroll wheel sensor developed a fault within a week, I sent it back and then the replacements laser died so the mouse was useless, replacement 2 the scroll wheel sensor failed again, replacement 3, the laser died and the fourth and final replacement, guess what? The scroll wheel sensor died. In the end I got a replacement of any product of the same value. I got a different brand mouse. When I emailed Roccat to complain, I just got brushed off. I have all the paperwork to prove it as far as the returns go. AVOID

2.0 out of 5 stars Dissapointing 27 Feb 2011
The mouse is very good. The Easyshift feature is amazing, and I quickly found myself using the macros I had set as second nature, making it hard to use another mouse. I found the mouse it's self a bit bulky, but I got over that. However, with less then a months use it packed in. I noticed some issues after about 2-3 weeks, with it struggling with tracking. However, the laser just died out right. Everything else works; all the buttons, the lights, but not the laser. The auto-calibration on the driver menu fails as it cannot detect a surface. tried to return it, but i couldn't as it is past the 30 days period, even though it took me 2 weeks to recieve it from amazon (though i will not bring that into the product review, which is why I gave it 2 stars). I have heard of people having issues with Roccat's customer support in regards to return policy, so I don't really know what to do.

It's a good mouse, which is why I am really annoyed that it broke so easily. Less than a months usage shouldn't kill a mouse. I could have recieved a faulty profuct, but my experience with Roccat has been bad, and so I can't recommend it.

1.0 out of 5 stars Tracking problem and T(D)CU broke? 13 Feb 2012
SHORT:

Trackingproblems after some weeks (in general and especially after higher acceleration).
T(D)CU auto calibration fails no matter which surface i tried out.
I guess TCU laser unit is already broken (only after 1-2 weeks of using the mouse).

Before you read the full Kone+ review:

My last mice were a "Razer Copperhead" and a "Razer Lachesis"...both got a broken Axle of the Mousewheel after some month (maximum half year to a year).
At "Copperhead" i linked the sprinting mode for my egoshooter.--->it broke after a year.
At "Lachesis" i changed the use to reduce the mechanical load/stress by setting the hand grenade throwing on it. After months of intensive playing the axles broke too.
My conclusion:
The mouse wheel axle is the weak point of Razer mice. It might not break for years if you are only a casual player or you not link any relevant/intensive function to the mousewheel-button.

Kone+ review:

After that bad experience with razer mice i decided for a new company:
Roccat Kone(+) mouse (Logitech is not my way in ergonomics). The Kone+ had good/best test results.

First impression:

-I was positive impressed by better design of mouse software functionality in case of adjustments
-I had to laugh about the LED design adjustments ( i bought a mouse and not a lightshow)
-I was a little disappointed by a lower numbre of buttons.
-The mousewheel area feels weaker than the Razer mice wheels so i was a little scary.

Starting playing:

Mouse seems to be good. I learned to handle the new ergonomics.
I use the mouse on a table (white smooth gloss paint, with fine scratches that the mouse can find fix-pints). This was the same surface i used sucessfully for my Razer mice.

After some weeks the tracking did not work correctly. Especially at vertical movements of movements with higher acceleration.(Accelerations my Razer mice could handle).

So i thought about cleaning my table, my mouse and the mouse sensor (carefully with a dry Q-tip and air).
Nothing helped.
Now i tried out the TCU auto calibration.

At the start of calibration a white surface image changed to a completly black one and never come back (sometimes after restart the calibration process a undefined picture showed up for millisecond before being black for the rest of the time).

The Auto calibration were not sucessfully!
I tried again and again-.......and again....(that was pretty annoying cause the mouse was only able to reach the "the try again"-button after i replugged in the mouse.

Long story short:
The Auto calibration never worked !
I tried out other surfaces:
my table, a printed paper, a white paper, a glossy coloured hardcover of a calendar.

The mouse only works after plug out/plug in action again.
And then it only works on the table and the glosser hardcover.(still not correct/clean working)

I already had the newest drivers installed.
I deinstalled and reinstalled these drivers too.
I tried out the reset button of the mouse software.

Nothing (it cost hours) helped.
I will bring back the mouse and buy a new one...but not a Roccat.

My Conclusion:
The mouse has tracking problems. It does not even work on a white paper (my Razer mice always worked on a simple white paper).
The option to solve these problems by using the T(D)CU auto calibration failed. Either the TDU system is simply crap or the laser tracking unit is already broken after some weeks.

For a mouse with such a high price i have other expectations (and this is an euphemism). So i only can give 1 star. Btw. i found some users in the I -net with similar problems after some weeks too. may be it is not only bad luck...seems like a systematical production problem for me
